How do I clock in and out, start breaks, and discard shifts in Employment Hero Work?

Learning how to clock into your scheduled shifts and manage your breaks is quick and easy with the EH Work app and Hero Time Clock. Employees can now clock into shifts assigned by managers using either the mobile app or tablet device at work sites.

Clocking into scheduled shifts

Employees can now easily clock into their scheduled shifts using either the EH Work mobile app or the Hero Time Clock tablet app. This feature ensures that employees are clocking into the correct shifts assigned to them by managers.

Clocking in via EH Work app

How do I clock into a scheduled shift?

Once a manager assigns a shift (including work site and position) to an employee:

  1. Log in to the EH Work app.
  2. On the home screen, tap the Work icon.
  3. Your assigned shift will automatically appear in the list of upcoming shifts for the day.
  4. Select the shift you are about to start and tap Clock In.

Important

  • Once clocked in, you cannot clock into another shift until you clock out of the current one
  • If only one shift remains for the day, it will be shown directly
  • If there are multiple shifts remaining, the app will only display the next shift if it starts within 2 hours
  • If you regularly use the clock in feature, it will appear as a quicklink on your homepage
How do I clock out of a shift?
  1. Log in to the EH Work app.
  2. On the home screen, tap the Work icon.
  3. Tap the Clock Out button.
  4. (Optional) Tap Add note and type any extra details.
  5. Tap the Confirm Clock Out button.

Clocking in via Hero Time Clock

How do I use the Hero Time Clock device?

On the Hero Time Clock device at your work site:

  1. Scheduled shifts will be shown with their start and end times.
  2. If there is only one upcoming shift, it will be shown directly on the clock-in screen.
  3. If there are multiple upcoming shifts, the screen will display 'Multiple Shifts'.
  4. When you tap Clock In, a modal will appear showing the list of upcoming shifts.
  5. Select which shift you are clocking into.

Important

Once clocked in, employees must clock out before starting another shift.

Managing breaks

How do I start a break?
  1. Log in to the EH Work app.
  2. On the home screen, tap the Work icon.
  3. Tap the Start Break button.
  4. (Optional) Add notes.
  5. Tap the Confirm Start Break button.
How do I end a break?
  1. Log in to the EH Work app.
  2. On the home screen, tap the Work icon.
  3. Tap the End Break button.
  4. (Optional) Add notes.
  5. Tap the Confirm End Break button.

Understanding timesheet features

What are the new timesheet statuses?

In addition to the existing statuses (Pending, Approved, and Declined), we've added three new ones:

  • Partial: Created when an employee clocks in but hasn't clocked out.
  • Late: Indicates a linked rostered shift has started, but the employee hasn't clocked in.
  • Absent: For linked rostered shifts where the employee never clocked in and the shift has ended.

Discarding a shift

How do I discard a shift?

Remove incomplete or accidental shifts by accessing the Discard shift function.

  1. Log in to the EH Work app.
  2. On the home screen, tap the Work icon.
  3. Tap the Clock Out button.
  4. Tap Discard shift.
