If you use both HR and payroll, this feature will let you set up your business so that your employees can access HR features like HR documents, Certifications, Policies, and many more. You can also access features that you were used to in payroll, like Clocking In/Out with Timesheets, Rostering, Unavailability, Expenses, and Leave.
First, configure your HR settings
- Open Employment Hero.
- Click on the Beta Feature flask icon.
- Toggle on HR PR Experience EH Work.
- Click Yes, count me in!
- Click on the Settings submenu.
- Click on Menu under the Customisation subheading.
- Under the Employee column, select which features you would like to use:
- Leave requests
- Rostering
- Timesheets
- Expenses
Important
If you wish to use any of the HR version of these features, ensure the above options are ticked here. For any features that you wish to use the payroll version, ensure that the above options are unticked here.
- Click Save.
- If you want users to use payroll features on the EH Work app, you need to enable employee portal access (EPA) on HR for each employee. To do this:
- On the HR platform, click the People menu.
- Click the Employees List submenu, then select the employee you need.
- Scroll to the Pay & Compensation section.
- Under the Pay Details tab, click the edit button (pencil icon) for Pay Run Details.
- Tick the Grant employee portal access checkbox.
- Click the Save button.
Important
When EPA is granted on HR, it syncs to payroll, but it doesn't sync from payroll to HR. If EPA is not granted on HR, the employee will not have access to payroll features in EH Work, even if EPA is granted on the payroll platform.
- Now you need to log into your payroll software to complete the payroll configuration.
Next, configure your payroll settings
- Open your payroll platform.
- Click on Payroll Settings.
- Click on Employee Portal Settings.

Select whether you want your employees to be able to:
- Apply for leave
- Apply for expense reimbursement
- Set their own availability
- Access and manage timesheets
- Clock in/out using the Employment Hero Work app
- Capture a photo when clocking in/out
- Click Save.
- Click on the Access tab.
- Under the Access column, ensure that your employees have Access Enabled.
Helpful Hint
If you would like employees to be able to submit timesheets via the EH Work app, ensure you have the Employees can: setting set to allow employees to create and edit all timesheets. Having this set only to edit their own timesheets will not allow employees to create timesheets.
- If your employees do not have Access Enabled, tick the check box to the left of the employee names.
- Click Grant Access.
- Now the configuration is complete.
