I can not open the links contained within an email | Payroll Error

Error

Type. Feature. Error Name
Content links. Payroll emails. Your connection is not private.

Explanation

When you receive an email from the payroll platform regarding actions taken, such as submitting leave requests, approving expense requests or viewing pay slips, there is usually a link at the bottom of the email to view the event. Occasionally, clicking this link will give you a Your Connection is not Private message.

This occurs when the senders domain is the same as the recipients domain, e.g. the sender has @example.com and the receiver has @example.com. Depending on the settings at your mail servers' end, it will cause problems.

Solution

There is no privacy issue with the email content, and you can fix the error by updating your domain settings within your Chrome browser.

Resolving this error
  1. In your Chrome browser, enter the following address chrome://net-internals/#hsts.
  2. Click the Domain Security Policy tab.
  3. In the Delete Domain Security Policies section, enter the domain of yourpayroll.com.au.
  4. Click the Delete button.
  5. Close all your open browser windows.
  6. Re-open your Chrome browser and click the email link again.
