Indirect employee performance review management

A performance review evaluates employees' productivity and identifies areas for improvement, aligning them with workplace expectations. These reviews are crucial for making informed decisions about promotions, raises, and layoffs.

The Indirect Employee Performance Review Management feature lets you monitor the progress of managers and their indirect reports on performance reviews. It also allows you to download the data as a CSV file, which can be uploaded to programs like Microsoft Excel for printing or further analysis.

Important

At this time, indirect employees and secondary managers cannot respond to the reviews.

Getting started

The below premises will walk you through how to filter review periods and view an employee review.

Filter review periods
  1. Click the   Performance menu.
  2. Click the Performance Review Management submenu.
  3. Use the Date Filter field to set the desired date range.
  4. Click the Filter button.

    Helpful Hint

    If you would like to view all your reviews, you can do so by clicking the Reset button and then clicking the Filter button.

View an employee review
  1. Click the   Performance menu.
  2. Click the Performance Review Management submenu.
  3. Click the desired review period.

  4. Click the Indirect Employees tab.
  5. Click on the employee whose review you want to view.

    Helpful Hint

    You will now see the employee's review on your screen along with their managers' responses. You can click the Expand or Minimise buttons to either close or open a review question.

Export the review summary

Helpful Hint

Downloading the review data will save the information as a CSV file.

  1. Click the   Performance menu.
  2. Click the Performance Review Management submenu.
  3. Click the desired review period.

Print the review summary

Helpful Hint

When printing the review data you will have the option to save the information as a PDF.

Further information

Who can see an employee's review comments?

A primary manager can view their direct employees reviews in the Direct Employees tab via the Reviews Management module. Clicking into the review, they will be able to see the primary manager's comments as they are the primary manager, i.e. they can see their own comments. They can also print the review with their own comments, before publishing the data.

A secondary manager cannot see an employees review, and therefore cannot see the managers comments in the review. The exception to this is if the secondary manager is also an indirect primary manager.

Indirect managers in the primary reporting line only, not the secondary reporting line, can see their indirect employees reviews via the Indirect Employee tab in the Reviews Management module. Clicking into the review, you will be able to see the manager's comments before they publish this data. They can also print their indirect employees' reviews, meaning they can print another manager's comments in this review.

Admins can download the CSV file of the review in the Review Periods module. In the CSV the comments will be visible, even if they are yet to publish this data. But if you click the Print button to print the review period details, then the overall rating will not be shown unless the manager has published their answers.

Can I change who can see a performance review?

Yes. In Settings > Custom Security Settings > Other Permissions > Performance Review Settings/Performance Review Responses, you can give custom permissions to these users. To find out how to create a custom security group, click on this link.
