How do I create a roster budget via the HR platform?

Available for the following HR classic plan: Platinum
Available for the following user access levels: Admin    

Admins can create a rostering budget in the HR platform so you can easily maintain control of labour costs and staffing needs. 

Getting started

View the roster budget
  1. Log into your Employment Hero HR platform.
  2. On the left-hand side menu. click the Time option.
  3. Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
  4. Click the Roster Budget button.

  5. Click on the Overview tab.

  6. Select the location and the week from the drop-down menus.

  7. Here you can view the roster budgets in both hours and wages view.

Create a daily hour budget
  1. Log into your Employment Hero HR platform.
  2. On the left-hand side menu. click the Time option.
  3. Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
  4. Click the Roster Budget button.

  5. Click on the Hour Budget tab.

  6. Select the following from the drop-down menus:
    • Location
    • Week.

  7. Select the Daily budget period.

  8. Select whether you want to share budgets across sub-locations.

  9. In the date field, input the daily hours for your budget.

  10. Once you have input your daily hours budget, click Save Budget.

Create a daily wage budget
  1. Log into your Employment Hero HR platform.
  2. On the left-hand side menu, click the Time option.
  3. Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
  4. Click the Roster Budget button.

  5. Click on the Wage Budget tab.

  6. Select the following from the drop-down menus:
    • Location
    • Week.
      choose the location and week for daily wage budget
  7. Select the Daily budget period.

  8. Select whether you want to share budgets across sub-locations.

  9. In the date field, input the daily hours for your budget.

Create a weekly hour budget
  1. Log into your Employment Hero HR platform.
  2. On the left-hand side menu. click the Time option.
  3. Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
  4. Click the Roster Budget button.

  5. Click on the Hour Budget tab.

  6. Select the following from the drop-down menus:
    • Location
    • Week.

  7. Select Weekly for the budget period.

  8. Select whether you want to share budgets across sub-locations.

  9. In the weekly field, input the weekly hours for your budget.

  10. Once you have input your weekly hours into your budget, click Save Budget.

Create a weekly wage budget
  1. Log into your Employment Hero HR platform.
  2. On the left-hand side menu, click the Time option.
  3. Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
  4. Click the Roster Budget button.

  5. Click on the Wage Budget tab.

  6. Select the following from the drop-down menus:
    • Location
    • Week.
      choose the location and week for daily wage budget
  7. Select Weekly for the budget period.

  9. In the weekly field, add the monetary amount to create your wage budget.

  10. Once you have added your budget amount, click Save Budget.

How do I turn on a roster warning?

If you are nearing your budget limit, then you can apply warnings to appear on the shifts as a reminder.

  1. Log into your Employment Hero HR platform.
  2. On the left-hand side menu, click the Time option.
  3. Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
  4. Click on the Rostering Settings button.

  5. Here you will see the rostering rules and warnings section.
  6. For any rules and warnings you would like to set, switch the toggle to the right to turn the setting on.
  7. Choose from the following rules and warnings:
    • Enable minimum same-day gap warning
    • Enable minimum gap warning over different days warning
    • Enable maximum continuous days warning
    • Enable maximum days in a week warning
    • Enable expired certification warning
    • Enable missing certification warning
  8. Once you have chosen your rules and warnings, click Save.
