Available for the following user access levels: Employee, Manager, Admin
Entering an incorrect email address during account setup or onboarding can prevent employees from receiving invitations, notifications, and accessing their account. Depending on whether the employee can still log in or needs an administrator to intervene, use the steps below to correct the details.
This article explains how to:
- Update an email address as an employee
- Update an employee email address as an admin or manager
- What to do if the employee cannot log in
Getting started
If you already have your password set up and can still sign in to the portal using the incorrect email address, you can update your own details directly:
- Log in to Employment Hero using the incorrect email address and your existing password.
- Click your Profile icon or name in the top-right corner and select My Profile
- Under Employment Records > Personal details tab, click the pencil icon in the Account Email section to update your email address.
- In the pop-up, enter the new email.
- Click Save.
- Check the inbox of your new email address to complete any verification steps if prompted.
Still unable to update your email?
Reach out to an admin or manager to update the incorrect email on your behalf.
Administrators or account owners can update an employee's details directly from the personnel records:
- Log in with an Administrator or Account Owner account.
- Navigate to People > People List.
- Click on the employee's name to open their profile.
- Under Employment Records > Personal details tab, click the pencil icon in the Account Email section to update your email address.
- In the pop-up, enter the new email.
- Click Save.
- If the employee has not activated their account yet, select Resend Invitation to send the setup email to the updated address.
If an employee cannot log in to make the change themselves—or if your organisation's permission settings prevent employees from modifying their own contact information—the employee should reach out directly to their manager or HR administrator to update the email address on their behalf.
