Custom Surveys: In-Platform Reporting

Updated

Available for the following plans: Lite, Plus, Unlimited HR, Engage, Elite, Unlimited HR+Payroll
Available for the following HR classic plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum
Available for the following user access levels: Admin

The In-Platform Reporting feature introduces a dedicated Results tab on each custom survey, allowing admins to view aggregated response data directly within Employment Hero — without needing to download a CSV first. You can see completion statistics, read open-text responses, and review visual charts for multiple-choice questions, all in one place. You can still export an aggregated summary to CSV from within the Results tab, and the existing raw response export on the surveys list remains unchanged.

View in-platform survey results

Helpful Hint

The Results tab is only available on surveys with a Published or Archived status.

At least one response must have been submitted before results are displayed on a non-anonymous survey. For anonymous surveys, at least 5 responses are required before any results are shown.

Open the Results tab for a survey

  1. Log in to Employment Hero.
  2. Click the Engagement menu.
  3. Click the Custom Surveys submenu.
  4. Click the Custom Surveys tab.
  5. Click the survey whose results you want to view.
  6. Click the Results tab.
  7. You will now see the in-platform results for the selected survey.

Read and interpret results

View completion statistics

  1. At the top of the Results tab, you will see a summary of participation for the survey:
  2. Participants — the total number of employees the survey was sent to.
  3. Responses — the number of employees who have submitted a response.
  4. Response rate — the percentage of participants who have responded.

View open-text question responses

Helpful Hint

For non-anonymous surveys, the name of the respondent is shown alongside each open-text response. For anonymous surveys, names are hidden.

Below the completion statistics, your survey questions are listed in the same order they were set in the survey. For open-text questions, you will see a list of all individual written responses.

View multiple-choice question results

For multiple-choice questions, results are displayed as a chart visual showing each answer option, along with the count and percentage of respondents who selected it. Answer options with zero responses are still shown with a count of 0 and 0%.

View results for an anonymous survey

Helpful Hint

To protect respondent privacy, results for anonymous surveys are only displayed once the survey has received a minimum of 5 responses. If this threshold has not been reached, the Results tab will display the message: "Results are hidden until at least 5 responses are received for this anonymous survey." No response data or individual information will be shown until the threshold is met.

  1. Navigate to the anonymous survey following the steps in Open the Results tab for a survey.
  2. Click the Results tab.
  3. Review the results. Responses are displayed without any respondent names attached.

Export results

Export aggregated results to CSV from the Results tab

You can export the aggregated, summarised results directly from the Results tab. This export includes the compiled data shown on screen (totals, percentages, and grouped responses). Your user role must be Admin or Owner level to export results, and at least one employee must have responded to the survey.

  1. Click the Engagement menu.
  2. Click the Custom Surveys submenu.
  3. Click the Custom Surveys tab.
  4. Click the survey you want to export.
  5. Click the Results tab.
  6. Click the Download aggregated responses button.
  7. The aggregated results will download as a CSV file.

Helpful Hint

Use the Results tab export when you need a summary of aggregated data (e.g. for reporting or sharing with stakeholders). Use the Actions > Download Responses export from the Custom Surveys list when you need the full individual-level dataset.

Helpful Hint

For anonymous surveys, the download button is visible but disabled until the 5-response threshold has been met. Hovering over the button will show a message explaining when the export will become available.
