You can configure timesheet settings to suit your organisation's setup, including timesheet rounding and the new round to rostered shift time feature. Timesheet rounding simplifies payroll by automatically adjusting an employee's clock-in or clock-out time to the nearest 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes, while round to rostered shift time goes further by aligning clock times directly to an employee's scheduled shift — reducing the need for manual timesheet corrections.
E.g., an employee clocks in at 9:03am. You may want timesheet rounding to round the employee's clock in time to 9:00am, or to 9:05am.
This article explains how to:

Turn on round to rostered shift time
The Round to rostered shift time setting automatically snaps an employee's clock-in and clock-out times to their rostered shift times when the difference falls within a configurable window. This removes the need for managers to manually correct timesheets caused by minor early or late clock events.
Prerequisites
- Rostering and Timesheets must both be enabled for your organisation.
- Only Organisation Admins can configure this setting.
Note: Round to rostered shift time and the standard Round timesheets setting are independent. When round to rostered shift time is applied to a clock event, the standard timesheet rounding rules are ignored for that event. Break duration rounding is not affected by this setting.
You can configure up to four independent rounding rules — one for each clock event type:
- Early clock-in — snaps to shift start time
- Late clock-in — snaps to shift start time
- Early clock-out — snaps to shift end time
- Late clock-out — snaps to shift end time
Each rule has its own time window. Only clock events that fall within the configured window are rounded; events outside the window are left unchanged.
To turn on round to rostered shift time:
- Go to Settings › Timesheets › Configure timesheet settings.
- Scroll to the Round to rostered shift time section.
- Toggle on the rule you want to enable — choose from Early clock-in, Late clock-in, Early clock-out, or Late clock-out.
- In the time window field that appears next to the rule, type or select the number of minutes that defines the rounding window (for example, 5 minutes).
- Repeat steps 3–4 for each additional rule you want to enable.
Changes are saved automatically. Once applied, any clock event that falls within the configured window for an active rule will automatically be adjusted to the employee's rostered shift start or end time on their timesheet.
Turn off a round to rostered shift time rule
Each rule is turned off individually. Disabling one rule does not affect the others.
- Go to Settings › Timesheets › Configure timesheet settings.
- Scroll to the Round to rostered shift time section.
- For the rule you want to disable — Early clock-in, Late clock-in, Early clock-out, or Late clock-out — select the Don't round option in the dropdown for that rule.
Changes are saved automatically. Clock events will no longer be rounded for any rule you have turned off.
Frequently asked questions
1. Can I make a field required for employees but optional for managers?
Yes. Each field can be set independently as Optional or Required for employees, managers, or both. For example, you can set Cost Centres as required for employees but optional for managers.
2. Do Work Sites replace Cost Centres for cost tracking?
No. Work Sites also link to Cost Centres for cost allocation. Enabling Work Sites does not replace cost tracking. Costs are attributed through the work site's linked Cost Centre.
3. Can I make Start and end time optional?
No. When Start and end time is enabled, it is always required. If you do not want employees entering start and end times, switch to Total hours/units instead. Note that these two settings are mutually exclusive. Enabling one automatically disables the other.
