Using the Go1 search function

Go1 Search helps you quickly find learning content that matches your needs. Simply enter a keyword or phrase in the search bar, and Go1 will return relevant results. You can refine your search using filters and sorting options to find the most suitable content faster.

Use the search bar
Type a keyword query and search will use keyword matching and semantic search to return relevant results. As you type, suggestions will appear to help refine your search.

Helpful Hint

If you are searching for a specific title, use double quotation marks to get the best results. Example: "Social Engineering" will return this specific term.

Refining search via the AI skills panel
When you enter a search query, Go1 AI will suggest related skills based on your input. Selecting a skill will narrow down your results and show more relevant content by adding that skill as extra context to the search.
Using search filters

Filters help you narrow down search results based on specific criteria. You can refine your results by:

  • Duration: Select content that fits within your available time.
  • Provider: Filter by content publishers available in Go1.
  • Level: Find content suitable to your learning level (beginner, intermediate, advanced or suitable for all).
  • Type: Choose from videos, courses, articles, or assessments.
  • Region: Search for content relevant to a specific geographic location.
  • Topic: Browse content by category, such as Leadership, IT Software, HR Compliance and others.
  • Language: Find content in a preferred language. 
  • Language dialect: Find content in your preferred accent.
  • Mobile Friendly: Identify content that works on mobile devices. 
  • Compliance: Filter by compliance or up-skill content. 

Helpful Hint

The Language Filter uses an 'AND' condition. Meaning that if you select multiple languages, the results will only show content available in all the selected languages at the same time.

Sorting search results

The Sort By filter lets you choose how your search results are organised.

The default filter is Top Enrolled, which displays courses with the highest number of enrollments.

After performing a search, the filter will automatically change to Most Relevant, where Go1’s algorithm highlights the courses most relevant to your search.

The available list of Sort By filters are:

Filter name Definition
Most relevant Based on Go1 search algorithm (which looks at keyword matching, content quality, Premium content and English content) designed to surface the most relevant results in response to the search query.
Top enrolled Content with the highest number of enrollments.
Highest rated Highest Rated content (based on the average 5-star rating)
Note: If there are multiple results with the same rating, it will automatically sort by highest number of ratings to the lowest.
Latest Creation Date from newest to oldest, which is when the piece of content was authored.
Alphabetical Orders results by: symbol, number and then A-Z.
Starting with a skill search

On our learning platform, discovering learning content has never been easier. Whether you are an individual aiming to upskill, or a manager looking to support employee growth. Our skills-based content discovery offers a streamlined, efficient, and targeted approach to finding the right learning content. Here are different ways to use it to your advantage.

Navigate to the search bar and type in a specific skill you are interested in. For example, if you are looking to improve your time management abilities, simply type "time management." Immediately, you​ will see a range of content options associated with that skill.

Asking questions about a role

Not sure which skill is relevant for a particular job role? Input a question like, "What are some tips for use excel?" in the Search field. The Search AI will recommend a set of skills typically associated with that role, guiding your content selection and shaping the learning pathway.

Refining your search with filters

Once you​ have searched for a particular skill or asked a question, use the filters to refine your results further. You can apply filters including:

  • Level: From beginner to advanced, select the level that aligns with your current knowledge and where you aim to be.
  • Duration: Whether you have 10 minutes or an hour, filter content by its length to fit into your schedule.
  • Content Type: Whether you prefer videos, audio, or interactive modules, choose the type of content that suits your learning style.

Filters for your searches

How can I filter my searches?
  1. Log in to Go1 Learn through Employment Hero.
  2. On the left-hand side menu, click on Search.
  3. Type your chosen search term in the search bar.
  4. Select from the highlighted filters to filter your search.
  5. Click on Add Filter to show all options for the filters.

Helpful Hint

The filters you can use in your search are: duration of course, course provider, course level, course type, course region, topic, langauge, language dialect and focus.

Most Relevant.

What keywords should I use in the search?
For best results, use concise and specific keywords related to your topic. For example: “Leadership training new managers” “Cybersecurity basics remote workers”. Broad keyword searches will be helpful if you are looking to return all relevant results and then use filters to narrow down your search. E.g. "Cybersecurity", "Emotional intelligence".
Can I search by skills or job roles?
Yes! Go1 Search supports skills-based discovery. Enter a skill (e.g., “project management”) or a job role (e.g., “HR specialist”) in AI Chat to find recommended content.
What is semantic search?
Semantic search helps find results based on meaning rather than just matching keywords. It understands the context of your search, including synonyms and related concepts, to show more relevant content. This means you get better results, even if you don’t use the exact words in a course title.
How are items without due dates handled?
If a learning item has no due date, it will appear based on its assigned date or the date you enrolled (In Progress tab).
Do we have an option to sort by the date the content was last edited?
Not at the moment; we are working on an uplift in the metadata that will allow us to do so in the future.
Do we have an option to choose a date range for content created?

What happened to the ‘Popular’ sort-by filter?
It has been re-named to ‘Top Enrolled’ to improve ‌user clarity.
What does “Compliance-related” mean?

Content is considered compliance-related when it addresses topics that help organisations meet legal, regulatory, or internal policy requirements. Examples include:

  • Workplace health and safety
  • Anti-harassment or discrimination training
  • Data privacy and cybersecurity (e.g. GDPR, SOC2)
  • Industry-specific regulations (e.g. HIPAA, financial services compliance)

Compliance content is identified using a combination of machine learning and expert review. Our platform evaluates each piece of content against a compliance framework, and our curation team verifies the tagging to ensure accuracy.

We use AI to analyse the content of each learning item — including its title, description, and learning outcomes. The model then compares that information to a set of topics we predefined to be “compliance-related” (like safety, privacy, or workplace conduct). If the content is a strong match to one of those compliance topics, it is automatically tagged as Compliance. Otherwise, it has considered Non-Compliance.

The Compliance flag is available in our Stable v3 API as a boolean field: is_compliance.
