How do I manage employee opening deduction balances via Payroll classic?

Available for the following Payroll classic plans: Standard, Premium

When transitioning from another payroll provider to Employment Hero's Payroll classic platform, you may have employees that have existing YTD (year to date) deductions. It is important to transfer these deduction balances to make sure your employees have the correct financial records.

The Opening Balances Deductions feature allows you to select an employee file and enter their existing YTD deduction amounts. You can also use this feature to clear the opening balances if you entered the wrong YTD figures into their employee file.

How do I add an employee's deduction opening balance?

Add opening deduction balances
  1. Click the Employee menu.
  2. Click the List submenu.
  3. Click on the employee who needs deductions added.
  4. Click the Opening Balances button.
  5. Click the Deductions tab.
  6. Enter the required deduction figures.
  7. Click the Save button.

How do I clear an employee's opening deduction balances?

Clear opening deduction balances
  1. Click the Employee menu.
  2. Click the List submenu.
  3. Click on the name of the employee that needs to have their deduction opening balance cleared.
  4. Click the Opening Balances button.
  5. Click the Deductions tab.
  6. Click the Clear button.
  7. Click the Save button.
