Onboard a contractor

Available for the following plans: Lite, Plus, Unlimited, HR Essentials, HR Engage, HR Elite, Unlimited HR+Payroll
Available for the following HR classic plan: Premium, Platinum
Available for the following User Access levels: Admin      

The Onboard a Contractor feature allows you to add a new contractor to your HR platform and at the same time choose and assign the relevant contract.

Add a contractor
  1. Click the   People menu.
  2. Click the People List submenu.
  3. Click the + Add Worker button, then select Onboard.
  4. In the Add a worker modal, select the Contractor tile.

    Helpful Hint

    Not sure whether the person you are adding should be a contractor, employee, or volunteer? Select Not sure which type applies? to answer a few quick questions and receive a recommendation.

  5. Select Start onboarding.
  6. Complete the following fields:
    • Trading name
    • First name
    • Last name
    • Date of birth
    • Email
    • Job title
    • Service description
    • Reports to
    • Team
  7. Click the Create button.
  8. Choose the relevant contract and click the Actions   button.
  9. Click the Select button.

  10. Make the required changes and click the Continue button.

  11. Select the I Have Read and Understood the Term of Use tick box.
  12. Edit the email message as required.
  13. Click the Email Document button.

Further information

Can I add a new contractor when offering them a contract, and delete them if they don't accept the offer?
Yes, you can add the person to the platform. However, please keep in mind that adding them will automatically trigger an email to the individual. To avoid this, the only way to keep the contractor in a 'pending/draft' status is to onboard them and select 'Issue Contract' during the onboarding process. This allows you to exit the file without sending an email, but you will need to proceed with the contract if you decide to onboard the person later.
