The Non-workdays Inclusion feature allows administrators to specify which leave types should include weekends and public holidays in their duration calculations. This is particularly important for leave types such as maternity leave, paternity leave, and other statutory leave that legally require calendar day calculations rather than working day calculations.
Getting started
- Log into your HR platform.
- Navigate to Settings in your admin panel.
- Click on Leave Settings from the settings menu.
- Click on the Advanced Settings tab.
- Scroll down to the Non-workdays Inclusion section.
- Click on the selection area to enable the feature.
- A dropdown list will appear showing all available leave types for your organisation.
- Select the leave types that should include weekends and public holidays in their calculations. Common examples include:
- Maternity leave
- Paternity leave
- Adoption leave
- Shared parental leave
- Leave without pay (LWOP) using calendar days
- Your selections will be saved automatically - no save button is required.
Note: This feature will appear for all leave types, giving you the flexibility to configure each one individually.
It's important to understand how the non-workdays inclusion affects leave calculations:
- Without non-workdays inclusion: A leave request from Friday to Monday would typically count as 2 working days (Friday and Monday), excluding the weekend.
- With non-workdays inclusion: The same leave request would count as 4 calendar days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday).
- Public holidays: Any public holidays within the leave period are also included in the calculation.
- Display: The system shows the total duration in hours, accounting for all included days.
Example scenario: An employee takes maternity leave from Tuesday to the following Tuesday (8 calendar days including one weekend). The system will calculate and display the full duration, including the weekend days.
