When you're actively hiring for a specific role, you need candidates that match that exact job. Job Mode in Talent Search lets you search for candidates with results prioritised and scored specifically against your open position. Instead of browsing your entire talent pool, you'll see the best matches for the job you're trying to fill right now, powered by SmartMatch.

Job Mode gives you SmartMatch scores and rankings based on your job description. This helps you find the best candidates faster than looking for people who have the same skills.

Access Job Mode from an open position

How to enter Job Mode Talent Search

Note: You can also access Job Mode directly from Talent Search by using the job selector dropdown at the top of the page, without needing to navigate through a specific open position first.

  1. Navigate to the Recruitment menu from the left sidebar, then click Recruitment.
  2. Select the job you want to find candidates for from your list of open positions.
  3. On the job page, look for the Source talent button near the top of the page. This button will display the number of matching candidates available in your talent pool (for example, "24 matches").

  4. Click the Source talent button to enter Job Mode.
  5. You'll be taken to the Talent Search interface in Job Mode, where you'll see:
    • The job title and key attributes at the top of the page
    • Candidate results ranked and scored specifically for this job
    • SmartMatch scores for each candidate based on how well they match your job requirements

Note

The SmartMatch algorithm analyses your job description, required skills, experience level, and other job attributes to rank candidates. Higher scores indicate stronger matches for your specific role.

Review and invite job-specific candidates

Work with candidates in Job Mode
  1. Once in Job Mode, candidates are displayed with their SmartMatch scores prominently shown. The ranking prioritises the best matches for your specific job, though the order may not be strictly top-to-bottom by score due to other relevancy factors.
  2. Click on any candidate card to view their full profile with the job-specific SmartMatch Summary, which includes:
    • Key highlights explaining why this candidate matches your job
    • Experience match percentage
    • Skills alignment with job requirements
    • Qualifications match
    • Professional summary and work history
  3. The SmartMatch Summary provides context-specific insights. For example, it might highlight "6 years' experience in hospitality roles including barista" or note "No direct mention of inventory ordering responsibilities" based on your job description.
  4. To invite a candidate to your job, click the Invite to job button on their profile.

  6. Click Invite [Candidate Name] to send the invitation. The candidate will receive a notification to apply for this specific role.

Switch between jobs in Job Mode

Search for candidates for different open positions

You can easily switch between different open positions while staying in Job Mode, allowing you to compare candidate pools across multiple roles.

  1. While viewing candidates in Job Mode, look for the job selector dropdown at the top of the page showing your current job.
  2. Click the dropdown to see all your open positions.
  3. Select a different job from the list.

  4. The system will automatically:
    • Update the search to match the new job's requirements
    • Recalculate SmartMatch scores for all candidates based on the new job description
    • Re-rank candidates to show the best matches for the newly selected position
  5. Review the updated candidate matches and SmartMatch scores for your new job selection.

Tip

Switching jobs in Job Mode takes a few moments as the system recalculates match scores for all candidates. This ensures you're seeing accurate, job-specific rankings rather than generic results.

Best Practice

Use Job Mode when you're actively hiring for a specific position and need to quickly identify the strongest candidates from your talent pool. Use regular Talent Search when you're doing broader talent planning or want to explore candidates across multiple potential roles.
