Search bar
The search bar sits at the top of the help centre home page, inside the purple banner with the prompt Type your question here…. It is the fastest way to find what you need.
To get the most effective results, follow these tips:
- Use specific keywords, not full sentences. Instead of typing "how do I add a new employee to the system", try "add employee" or "onboard new hire". Shorter, targeted terms return better results.
- Search by feature or task name. If you're looking for help with a specific feature, use its name directly — for example, "payroll run", "leave request", or "timesheet approval".
- Try different variations. If your first search doesn't return what you need, try a synonym or related term. For example, if "terminate employee" doesn't land, try "offboarding" or "end employment".
- Use error messages as search terms. If you've hit an error in the platform, copy the exact error message or code into the search bar — it often surfaces the most relevant article directly.
- Filter by category if results are broad. When a keyword returns a large number of results, use the category filters on the left to narrow down to the area most relevant to your situation.
Helpful Hint
After entering your search term, click the Search button or press Enter on your keyboard. You can also filter results by Source and Type — including Articles, Webpages, and Community posts — using the filters on the left-hand side of the search results page.
Quick answer
When you run a search, a Quick answer panel appears at the top of your search results — above the list of articles. This is an AI-powered feature that reads relevant help centre content and generates a concise, direct answer to your question on the spot.
The Quick answer panel includes:
- A short AI-generated summary answering your search query, often broken down by role (for example, steps for employees and steps for managers).
- An AI suggestion based on section, listing the specific help centre articles the answer was drawn from — click any of these links to read the full article.
- A thumbs up / thumbs down rating so you can tell us whether the answer was helpful.
- An Ask a follow-up question field, so you can refine or continue your search without starting over.
Helpful Hint
The Quick answer is a great starting point, but always check the linked source articles for full step-by-step instructions, screenshots, and any important notes or exceptions that may apply to your situation.
Category tiles
Below the search bar on the home page, you'll find the Browse by topic section. Each category tile matches a module in the Employment Hero platform, so navigating to help content works the same way as navigating the product itself.
