A passkey is a secure digital key, allowing you to log into Employment Hero Payroll without the need to enter a password. This method of logging in is secure, as a password can be shared around without authorisation, while a passkey is often encrypted within a password manager.
This article explains how to:
Getting started
- Log in to Employment Hero Payroll.
- Click on your name in the top-right corner, then select My Account.
- Click on Security.
- Under Passkeys, select Add Passkey.
- Re-enter your account password.
- Click on Continue.
- Once the passkey has been created, you will see a green Passkey successfully added tag and will also receive an email notifying you of the new passkey.
Maintain
- Head to the Employment Hero Payroll log in page and select Sign in with a passkey.
- Select Continue to log in. If your web browser has your password manager installed, you will be prompted via a pop-up via the password manager's extension to use the passkey.
- You will be automatically redirected, and logged in to Employment Hero Payroll.
- Log in to Employment Hero Payroll.
- Click on your name in the top-right corner, then select My Account.
- Click on Security.
- Click on the Manage button.
- Re-enter your account password.
- Click on the bin icon.
- Click on the Revoke button.
- Once the passkey has been created, you will see a green Passkey successfully removed tag and will also receive an email notifying you of the passkey removal.
Further information
If you are not able to access your password manager, or device with the stored passkey, you will need to recover your account.

Reauthentication of your session is required if you are logged into Employment Hero, and there is an extended period of inactivity. If you have enabled passkeys, you can use your passkey to reauthenticate your session and continue to use Employment Hero.
Alternatively, you can also use your password to reauthenticate your session.
