Add and clear employee opening leave balances on the Payroll platform

Available for the following plans: Employment Lite, Employment Plus
Available for the following Payroll plans: Essentials, Standard, Premium

When transitioning from another payroll provider to Employment Hero's Payroll platform, you may have employees that have existing Year to Date (YTD) leave balances. It is important to transfer these entitlements over to make sure your employees have the correct leave accrued. 

The Opening Balances Leave Balances feature lets you select an employee file and enter their accrued YTD leave balances. You can also use this feature to clear the opening balances if you entered the wrong YTD figures in their employee file.

You will need to have your leave categories set up before you can use this feature. To read further information on how to set up leave categories, refer to this article.

Getting started

Add opening leave balances
  1. Click the Employee menu.
  2. Click the List submenu.
  3. Click the name of the employee who needs to have their leave balances added.
  4. Click the Opening Balances button.
  5. Click the Leave Balances tab.
  6. Enter the required leave balance figures.
  7. Click the Save button.

Manage data

Clear opening leave balances
  1. Click the Employee menu.
  2. Click the List submenu.
  3. Click the name of the employee who needs to have their leave balances cleared.
  4. Click the Opening Balances button.
  5. Click the Leave Balance tab.
  6. Click the Clear button.
  7. Click the Save button.
