A manager or admin can create open shifts for employees to bid on. You are also able to set a shift bidding cut-off time, after which employees are no longer able to bid on the open shifts, and you can also set shift bidding notification reminders for your employees.

Getting started
- In your Employment Hero platform, click on the Time option on the left-hand side menu.
- Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
- Click on the Rostering Settings button.
- Switch the toggle to the right on Enable open shifts.
- Click Save on the bottom right-hand side of the screen.
- Log into your Employment Hero platform.
- Click on the Time option on the left-hand side menu.
- Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
- Click on the Roster Actions button.
- Click on View shift bidding groups.
- To create a new shift bidding group, click on + Add group.
- Add the following details:
- Group name
- Employees (optional).
- Click Save.
- In your Employment Hero platform, click on the Time option on the left-hand side menu.
- Under the Rostering submenu, click on Rostering Management.
- Choose the day on which you wish to create an open shift by clicking on the plus sign.
- To create an open shift, add the following details:
- Shift start time
- Shift end time
- Break times
- Location
- Certification (optional)
- Employee - you must select This is an open shift
- Bidding employees and groups
- Notes (optional)
- Click Save.
Helpful Hint
The employees in the biddable group will be notified via Employment Hero Work that there is an available open shift. The first employee to accept the open shift will have it assigned to them.
The shift will then be added to the successful employee's roster in Employment Hero Work, and you will see the employee assigned for the shift in Roster Management.
Helpful Hint
Open shifts will have a purple open tag on them for easy identification.
