Adding Employee Data AU - Xero Import

Introduction

If you were using Xero payroll previously and wish to switch to Employment Hero, you can swiftly transition by utilising the Xero payroll import feature.

During your employee import, our system allows a Xero integration that imports your data directly from Xero into Employment Hero. This eliminates the need for manual data manipulation to meet EH requirements.

To access Xero integration features, users must have at least "Standard + Payroll Admin" access. 

Please note this process will be the same or very similar for other integrations such as Quickbooks, Square, Wage Easy, Light Speed Restaurant, etc.

How to Prepare/Dependencies

Tip

The seamless operation of both Xero and Employment Hero Payroll is contingent upon the essential dependency of having administrative rights to provide accurate and efficient management of financial and payroll processes.

Instructions

  1. Log into your Employment Hero Payroll.
  2. Navigate to Business > Payroll Settings > Business Management > Import Employees.
  3. Select Xero Payroll from the drop down list.
  4. Click the Connect to Xero link. You will be redirected to Xero or select the required file. 
  5. Once selected, return to the payroll platform and click on Import.

Important

It is important to know that when importing from Xero there will be some items which need review:

  • Recurring allowances will not be imported and will require manual updates in the platform
  • Not all employee data will be imported (eg tax file number). This will require manual updates in the platform. Read more about this here.
  • Most Xero platforms use the pay category Ordinary Hours which when imported will NOT accrue leave. We recommend changing the Primary Pay Category to Permanent Ordinary Hours, Casual Ordinary Hours or Salary to align with our systems.
