Testing your ABA file

Introduction

Testing your ABA file during the parallel testing phase of a new payroll platform is crucial for several reasons. It ensures that the ABA file generation process within the new system is accurate and aligned with your organisation's payment requirements. Parallel testing allows you to validate that the ABA file contains the correct payment details for each employee, preventing errors or discrepancies in actual payroll processing.

How to Prepare/Dependencies

It's imperative to have set up your required ABA file information within the platform before testing this functionality.

Instructions

  1. Login to your Employment Hero Payroll platform.
  2. Navigate to Business > Dashboard > Pay Runs.
  3. Open the desired pay run.
  4. Click on Payment File > Download ABA button. If you only have one ABA file set up, your ABA file will download automatically. If you have multiple ABA settings, you need to choose the specific file you wish to utilise.
  5. Navigate to Payment File' > 'Payment File Settings, then opt for the relevant payment file details and save your selection. The system will remember your most recent ABA settings used for generating your ABA file, ensuring they're automatically preselected for your future usage.
  6. Load into your bank as per normal procedure.

Important

During the parallel testing phase, please refrain from processing your ABA file through your actual banking system. The purpose of this testing is to ensure that the ABA file loads correctly within the payroll platform, and not to initiate actual financial transactions. It's imperative to have completed all preceding steps in the implementation journey before commencing parallel testing.
