Changes to How You Add Employees

We’re streamlining the way new employees are added to payroll by transitioning the initation of employee onboarding from manual entry to our Employee Self Setup (ESS) system.

From 29 August, all new employee records will be initiated with ESS or Employee Import. This change is designed to improve consistency, reduce manual data errors, and streamline onboarding.

What’s changing?

The process of collecting employee information will now start with ESS or Import, but admins will still have full visibility and control over what information is entered and approved. Once ESS is initiated, admins can continue to quickly complete the details of a newly onboarded employee manually, if required.

The two streamlined ways to begin employee onboarding are:

  • Employee Self-Setup (ESS) – the recommended option to ensure employees securely enter key details. Learn more.
  • Employee Import – bulk upload employee data in a few clicks. Learn more.

This shift enables a faster, more consistent onboarding experience while preserving ‌flexibility throughout the onboarding experience.

What does this mean for us?

We recommend reviewing your current employee onboarding workflows to ensure they align with this updated process. If you currently rely on manual entry to begin onboarding, you will need to make small adjustments to initiate the flow using ESS or Import instead.
