Key updates

See the current financial year tab to see award updates for the 2025/26 financial year.

Current financial year
October 2025

30th

We have introduced a new suite of configurations for Salaried Employment Agreements to allow the employers to manage the salaried employees, who are under Individual flexibility arrangements, directly within the award instead of having to remove them.

This introduction, which is an enhancement rather than a legislative update requirement, includes the items below if they do not already exist within an award:

  • Pay Categories (Salary - Public Holiday Not Worked).
  • Leave Allowance Templates for “No loading”.
  • Rule Set to disregard timesheets.
  • Pay Rate Templates.
  • Employment Agreements for all employee types (full-time, part-time, and casual).

For detailed information on the changes, please refer to our guide here.

Install and configure the pre-built award package

For details on how to install and configure this Pre-built Award Template, please review the detailed help article here. While every effort is made to provide a high-quality service, Employment Hero does not accept responsibility for, guarantee or warrant the accuracy, completeness or up-to-date nature of the service. Before relying on the information, users should carefully evaluate its accuracy, currency, completeness and relevance for their purposes, and should obtain any appropriate professional advice relevant to their particular circumstances.

The award default Rule Set Period is set to Weekly that ends every Sunday. If you follow a different work pattern or roster period, you can review and set the rule set period date that applies to your organisation.

Special Notes

  • The timesheet should have start and end times for the rules to apply correctly

  • Leaves should be converted into a timesheet with the standard hours of work

  • Clause 15.2 (b) - The language allowance is specified as an annual amount; however, we have configured a weekly rule that can be applied using a tag, in case you prefer to pay this allowance on a weekly basis.

  • Clause 30.3, in cases where it’s practical to eat while working, penalties will only apply for the meal period itself. The “Work During Meal Break” work type should be applied only to the break time, not to the whole shift.

  • Clause 30.4: On-call work during meal breaks must be entered as a separate timesheet entry. If the employee works for the entire meal break or for longer than the scheduled meal period, the Work During Meal Break work type must be used.

  • Clause 30.6 Paid rest breaks are not required to be clocked in or out. If the client requires break times to be recorded, they may refer to this link.

  • The clauses listed in the table below were not included in the award. If you need any of these clauses, creating or customising the award is necessary.

Time off instead of payment for overtime

  • Time off must be taken:

    • (a) within the period of 6 months after the overtime is worked; and

    • (b) at a time or times within that period of 6 months agreed by the employee and employer.

  • If the employee requests at any time, the employer must pay the employee for overtime covered by the agreement but not taken as time off, at the overtime rate applicable to the overtime when worked

  • If the employee requests at any time to be paid for overtime covered by an agreement under the clause but not taken as time off, the employer must pay the employee for the overtime, in the next pay period following the request, at the overtime rate applicable to the overtime when worked.

  • If time off for overtime that has been worked is not taken within the period of 6 months mentioned in clause 17.5, the employer must pay the employee for the overtime, in the next pay period following those 6 months, at the overtime rate applicable to the overtime when worked.

31.7

34.3 (e) (iii)

Overtime transport

Distant engagement - travel time

  • When travel time is continuous with work hours at the end of a shift, the system calculates the shift end time based on the travel period. For example, if the shift ends at 7 PM and travel time is from 7 PM-7:30 PM, the system treats the entire shift as night shift hours instead of ordinary hours.

Image 1.png

  • Ensure that travel time is at least 31 minutes apart from work hours for the system to recognise it as a separate.

Image 2.png

31.3

Minimum engagement - weekend overtime

  • Where an employee is specifically brought in to work overtime on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the minimum payment must be for 4 hours of work. - The system is unable to determine if weekend overtime is a continuation of a regular shift or a separate call-in. To ensure compliance and prevent underpayment, it will automatically apply the 4-hour minimum weekend overtime engagement by default.
