Questions

Answers

What is changing with superannuation processing fees?

From 1 April 2026, super payments processed using Employment Hero’s legacy integrated super processing service (Beam) will incur a fee of $0.30 per employee, per batch. HeroClear is the recommended, lower‑cost, embedded option.

When does the change take effect?

The updated billing approach applies from 1 April 2026 and only affects super payments processed after that date.

Does this change affect how super is processed?

No. This change does not affect how super is calculated, submitted, or paid. It only updates how the super processing fee is billed.

Which accounts does this apply to?

The fee applies to each Employment Hero billing account where the legacy integrated super processing service (Beam) is used. If you have multiple billing accounts, the fee applies separately to each one.

How much is the super processing fee?

The fee is $0.30 per employee, per batch applies when using the legacy integrated super processing service (Beam) from 01 Apr 2026. HeroClear is $0.20 per employee, per batch.

Is this an ongoing fee or a one-off charge?

This is an ongoing fee that applies each time super is processed using the legacy integrated service (Beam), in line with our Pricing and Terms.

Will this appear as a separate line item on my invoice?

Yes. The fee will be shown on your monthly Employment Hero invoice.

Is this a price increase?

The fee itself isn’t new, but applying it consistently going forward may increase costs depending on how often you process super.

Wasn’t quarterly super previously included in my subscription?

Historically, quarterly super processing was included for many customers. Over time, super processing has become more frequent and more complex, and we’re now moving to a consistent pricing approach where each transaction reflects the work involved. Super processing requirements have evolved, with increased compliance obligations and a broader shift toward more frequent payments across the market. Charging per transaction ensures pricing better reflects the operational and compliance effort involved.

Does this apply to past super payments?

No. This change applies prospectively only and does not affect past invoices or super payments.

Does this fee apply if I don’t use Employment Hero to process super?

No. The legacy integrated service fee applies when using Beam. You can export to third‑party clearing houses, or use HeroClear at a lower per‑batch price.

Can I process super outside Employment Hero to avoid the fee?

Yes. You can export a superannuation report from Employment Hero Payroll and use it to pay super directly via your default fund or another clearing house. Any manual process must still meet your compliance obligations.

Can I download a file or report instead of using the integrated service?

Yes. You can download a superannuation report showing employee fund and member details and use this to make payments externally.

Can I change how often I pay super to reduce fees?

You can change your super payment frequency. However, the fee applies per super transaction, and customers should also consider upcoming regulatory requirements such as Payday Super.

Why is there a fee for something that’s legally required?

While paying super is legally required, the way super is processed and supported operationally isn’t prescribed. The fee reflects the work involved in processing each transaction and supporting ongoing compliance. HeroClear is designed to help you stay compliant.

Is this fee because of Payday Super?

Not solely. The broader shift toward more frequent super processing, including upcoming changes like Payday Super, is part of the context, but this update is about aligning billing with the operational work involved in processing super payments.

Why is this being applied now?

While the fee has existed in our Pricing and Terms, it hasn’t always been applied consistently. From 1 April 2026, we’re standardising how super processing is billed so all customers are treated consistently.

Where can I see this pricing?

You can find the super processing fee on our pricing page. Navigate to the comparison table and click the (i) icon next to the Payroll Standard or Payroll Premium headings for more information.

Can Employment Hero change this without my agreement?

The fee is already included in our Pricing and Terms, which form part of your agreement. During your Minimum Term, pricing is locked. Once that term ends, pricing updates can apply on a forward-looking basis with notice.

Is there an alternative product or pricing model coming?

Yes — HeroClear is available now for eligible customers and is recommended as the default pathway moving forward.
