Create a Group in Go1

Available for the following plans: Employment Lite, Employment Plus, Employment Unlimited
Available for the following HR plans: Standard, Premium, Platinum
Available for the following user access levels: Admin

Creating groups allows you to organise your users and deliver learning content efficiently. You can create static groups for manual control, or dynamic groups that automatically update based on specific rules.

The group management feature allows you to centralise your team's learning pathways. By grouping employees, you can assign training, track progress, and manage permissions at scale rather than individually.

Getting started

Create a Group

  1. Click the People menu.
  2. Click the Groups submenu.
  3. Click the Create Group button.
  4. Enter the Group Name and an optional description.
  5. Select your group type: Static or Dynamic.
  6. Click the Save button.

Create a static group

Static groups allow you to hand-pick exactly who belongs in the group. This is best for small teams or temporary project groups where membership doesn't change frequently.

  1. Click the People menu.
  2. Click the Groups submenu.
  3. Click the Create Group button.
  4. Enter the Group Name.
  5. Select Static as the group type.
  6. Click the Create button.
  7. In the Members tab, click Add Member.
  8. Search for and select the employees you wish to add.
  9. Click the Save button.

Create a dynamic group

Dynamic groups use automated rules to manage membership. As employee details change—such as a new hire joining a department or a promotion changing a job title—the group list will update automatically.

  1. Click the People menu.
  2. Click the Groups submenu.
  3. Click the Create Group button.
  4. Enter the Group Name.
  5. Select Dynamic as the group type.
  6. Click the Add Rule button.
  7. Define your conditions using the following logic:
    • ALL: Users must match every condition (e.g., Department is 'Sales' AND Country is 'UK').
    • ANY: Users must match at least one condition (e.g., Job Title is 'Manager' OR 'Director').
  8. (Optional) Click Preview to see which employees currently match your rules.
  9. Click the Save button.

Helpful Hint

You can also use AI Assistance to build dynamic groups. Simply type a description like "All new starters in the Melbourne office from the last 30 days" and the platform will automatically generate the corresponding rules for your review.
