Employment Hero's Induction Content provides a seamless way to deliver essential information to your new starters. The first few days of a new role can be overwhelming, but this feature ensures they feel welcome, prepared, and engaged from day one. Whether it is a personal welcome video from your CEO, office floor plans, company values, or local "insider tips," Induction Content bridges the gap between a signed contract and a successful first week.

This article explains the following:

Why use Induction Content?

Reduce new starter anxiety

First-day nerves are real. By providing clear, accessible information, you remove the guesswork for new hires and help them arrive with confidence. For example, you can share information about how to navigate the office, your company's ways of working, who to contact, or even where to get the best coffee.

Boost early engagement

Go beyond standard contracts and policies. Sharing your company culture through videos and personalised messages helps new employees connect with your mission and leadership team before they even attend their first meeting.

Streamline administrative tasks

Save time for HR and managers by centralising "nice-to-know" information. Instead of sending repetitive emails, you can host all supplemental onboarding materials in one place and track completion at a glance.

Getting started with Induction Content

Step 1: Create your induction material

Before your new hires arrive, you need to build your library of content. This can be anything from a PDF handbook to a video link or even a web link to your company's mission statement. You can target this content to specific groups or locations to keep it relevant.

Guide: Set up, edit and acknowledge induction content

Helpful Hint

Keep your content bite-sized. Videos under two minutes and clear, one-page PDFs tend to have the highest engagement rates for new starters.

Step 2: Set visibility and permissions

You have full control over who sees what. You can make content available to your entire global workforce or restrict specific documents to only those in certain locations or teams.

Step 3: Track compliance with reporting

Once the content is live, you can monitor progress via the Induction Content Report. This allows you to see which employees have acknowledged required induction content, ensuring no one misses out on vital cultural or operational information.

Guide: Create an induction content report

Important

The employee must manually acknowledge the required content for it to reflect as "Completed" in your admin reports.

Pro tips to maximise value

  • Showcase your EVP - Use your induction space to reinforce why your new hire chose you. Highlighting your Employee Value Proposition (EVP), like flexible work arrangements or unique perks like the Employment Hero Work app, reminds them of the great culture they have just joined.
  • Keep your entire workforce aligned - Induction content is not just for day one. Use the Re-assign feature when you have major cultural or policy shifts to ensure your existing staff stay up-to-date and acknowledge new company standards.
  • Leverage video for a human touch - Break up the static documents by embedding a personalised "Welcome to the Team" video. Putting a face to the leadership team creates a warmer, more human connection than a plain-text email ever could.
  • Hyper-localise by location - If you have multiple offices, make sure the info is relevant. Upload specific floor plans or "local favourite" guides and use the location filters so employees only see the details that apply to their physical workspace.

Related features

Once you have got Induction Content running smoothly, explore these features to build an even stronger onboarding experience:

  • Onboarding Checklists - Create automated task lists for managers and IT to ensure every new hire has their desk, laptop, and access ready before they arrive.
  • Certifications - Manage and track mandatory professional qualifications, licenses, and background checks alongside your induction materials.
  • Policies - Use the Policies feature to distribute and track digital signatures for your employee handbook and code of conduct, ensuring your compliance requirements are fully met.
  • Documents - Centralise all signed HR documents and materials within the employee file for easy retrieval during performance reviews or audits.
