The Custom Goals Report feature allows you to include goal and Key Result (OKR) data directly within the Custom Report Builder. This removes the need for manual spreadsheet merging by letting you combine goal information with other employee details, such as employment information, leave balances, and pay details, into a single CSV export.
This article will show you how to manage the following:
- Add goal fields to a custom report
- Add Key Result fields to a custom report
- Filter reports by goal status, type, or date
- Filter reports by goal progress range
Add goal fields to a custom report
By including goal fields in your custom report, you can view organizational progress alongside standard employee records. When you select one or more goal fields, the report produces one row per goal, per employee. If an employee has three goals, they will appear in three rows with their employee details repeated for each goal.
- Log in to Employment Hero.
- Click the Reports icon on the left-hand side menu.
- Click the Custom Reports option.
- Click the Create Custom Report button.
- In the field selection area, locate the Goals (OKRs) field group.
- Select from the following available fields:
- Goal Title
- Goal Status
- Goal Progress (%)
- Due Date
- Goal Type (Company, Groups, or Individual)
- Group
- Goal Alignment
- Select any other required employee fields, such as Employment Details, Leave Balance, or Pay Details.
- Click the Export CSV button to download your merged data file.
Helpful Hint
- Employees without any goals assigned will not appear in the report.
- Archived goals are automatically excluded from all reports.
- For group goals, only the goal owner will generate a row in the report. Other group members will not appear for that specific goal.
Add Key Result fields to a custom report
If you need more granular information, you can add Key Result (KR) fields. Selecting any Key Result field switches the report format to show one row per Key Result. For example, an employee with three goals that each have two Key Results will produce six rows in total.
- Access the Custom Report Builder via the Reports menu.
- In the Goals (OKRs) field group, select your desired Key Result fields:
- Key Result Name
- Key Result Owner
- Key Result Status
- Key Result Progress (%)
- Key Result Target Range
- Key Result Current Value
- Key Result Due Date
- Complete your report building by adding any other necessary data columns.
- Click Export CSV.
Helpful Hint
- Key Result Target Range displays as a readable string, for example: 5 → 10 contracts.
- Key Result Current Value displays as a readable string, for example: 7 contracts.
- Goal columns are repeated on each Key Result row to maintain context.
- If a Key Result is owned by someone other than the goal owner, both names will appear. The row remains anchored to the goal owner, but the Key Result Owner field will show the specific owner of that KR.
Filter reports by goal status, type, or date
Use filters to focus on specific goal categories or to identify goals that are at risk.
- In the Custom Report Builder, ensure you have selected OKR fields.
- Navigate to the Filters section.
- Apply the following filters as needed:
- Goal Status: Use the multi-select filter to choose between On Track, At Risk, Off Track, or Not Started. A goal will only appear if its own status matches your selection.
- Goal Type: Use the multi-select filter to choose between Company, Groups, or Individual goals.
- Goal Due Date: Set a start and end date range to see goals due within a specific quarter or performance cycle.
- Click Run Report to see the filtered results.
Helpful Hint
A goal with a status of On Track will not appear if you filter for Off Track, even if one of its individual Key Results is currently Off Track.
Filter reports by goal progress range
The progress range filter is useful for identifying goals that are falling behind their expected completion levels.
- In the Custom Report Builder, go to the Filters section.
- Locate the Goal Progress filter.
- Enter a minimum and maximum percentage (between 0 and 100).
- The report will now only display goals where the progress percentage falls within that specified range.
