To perform a stapled super fund lookup on your behalf, Employment Hero needs an authorised connection to the ATO’s digital services, identified by your Software ID. This is the same connection used for Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting, but the stapled super fund lookup is a separate ATO service used during onboarding — not an STP event. If you have already set up your ATO connection for STP in EH Payroll, we’ll use the same connection to getting your employee’s stapled fund.
This guide walks you through the ATO Integration settings that enable the stapled super fund lookup — by confirming your ATO connection and lodgement type. The lookup then runs automatically for each new employee during onboarding.
Getting Started
- Log into your Employment Hero HR account.
- Navigate to Settings in the sidebar.
- Select ATO Integration under Payroll.
- You now see your employing entities, lodging type, status and actions.
- Click the three dots actions buttons for the employing entity you wish to lookup.
- Select Manage.
- You will see the details of that entity.
- Next you need to set up the lodgement type. The method used to connect to the ATO depends on who you are lodging STP as. - As the Employer, As the Tax/BAS Agent, or As the Intermediary. Select which one you want and follow the instructions below.
1. As the Employer
- On the ATO Integration page in Employment Hero, go to the lodge type section.
- Select As the Employer.
- Fill in the following: Business name, ABN, Branch Number, Contact Name, Contact Email, Phone number.
- Click Next.
- A Green Tick shows the ATO details have been saved Successfully.
- Next, you need to exit Employment Hero and follow the link to the ATO Access Manager. You will need the software ID, Business name EMPLOYMENT HERO PTY LTD and ABN: 11 160 047 709.
- Click Login with myID.
- Select My hosted SBR software services from the left hand menu.
- Select Notify the ATO of your hosted service.

2. As the Tax / BAS Agent
If a registered Tax/BAS Agent is lodging ATO events on behalf of the business, the software ID must be linked with the registered agent number (RAN) and ABN, not the employer’s ABN. To set up the ATO connection correctly, the registered agent must log in to Access Manager using their myGovID credentials. They will need to be the principal authority or authorisation administrator in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) to use Access Manager.
- On the ATO Integration page in Employment Hero, Go to the lodge type section.
- Select As the Tax / BAS Agent.
- Fill in the following: Business name, ABN, Branch Number, Contact Name, Contact Email, Phone number.
- Click Next.
- A Green Tick shows the ATO details have been saved Successfully.
- Next, your TAX / BAS agent will need to follow the link to the ATO Access Manager. They will need the software ID, Business name EMPLOYMENT HERO PTY LTD and ABN: 11 160 047 709.
- Click Login with myID.
- Select My hosted SBR software services from the left-hand menu.
- Select Notify the ATO of your hosted service.
- Search for EMPLOYMENT HERO PTY LTD and ABN: 11 160 047 709 in the list.
- Enter the software ID and select Next;
- Read the Notification statement, then select Save;
- A green success message will appear on the next screen to confirm success.

3. As the Intermediary
If an intermediary is being used to lodge ATO events on behalf of multiple employing entities created within the one business, the software ID will need to be linked against the ABN of the intermediary entity, not the employer’s ABN. To set this up, log in to Access Manager using your myID credentials. You will need to be the principal authority or authorisation administrator in Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) to use Access Manager for the intermediary ABN.
- On the ATO Integration page in Employment Hero, go to the lodge type section.
- Select As an Intermediary.
- Search for EMPLOYMENT HERO PTY LTD and ABN: 11 160 047 709 in the list.
- Enter the software ID, and select Next.
- Read the Notification statement, then select Save.
- A green success message will appear on the next screen to confirm success.
