New: More control over your leave settings

If your organisation uses our Employment Hero Payroll, you may have noticed that leave settings offered less flexibility than our standalone All-In-One platform — even simple changes, like updating a calendar colour, meant contacting support. That's changing.

What's new

  • A dedicated Leave Settings page — Find everything in one place under Settings > Time and Attendance for leave allowance templates and leave categories.
  • Direct control over local leave settings — Admins and Owners can now update local preferences for every leave category themselves, without waiting on support — all while your payroll sync stays fully intact.

What this means for you

  • No more support tickets for simple tweaks — Update things like leave calendar display colours yourself, right in Employment Hero.
  • Clear guidance on what you can change — Helpful banners let you know at a glance whether a setting is controlled by your payroll integration or can be edited in Employment Hero.
  • More flexibility on who can manage this — Beyond primary Admins, Organisation Owners and anyone with the "Leave Settings Management – Leave Types" permission can now make these updates too.

Keeping your data safe

  • Category names that come from your payroll system stay locked as read-only, so nothing gets out of sync — but any locally-created category names remain fully editable.
  • Access is limited to Admins, Owners, and authorised delegates, so changes can only be made by the right people.
  • Every update is logged in your audit trail, so you always know who changed what, and when.

We're continuing to invest in bringing payroll-connected organisations the same flexibility and control as our EmploymentOS plans — this is the first step.
