What is the Single Touch Payroll (STP) tax category?

Answer

The STP Tax Category identifies which category of tax an employee would fall under. You would use these tax categories to generate the first character of the tax treatment code that is used for STP reporting.

The STP Tax Category would either already exist within the Tax Declaration page based on existing fields such as working holiday makers or foreign residents, or otherwise, there is a new field to identify the STP Tax Category for employees such as actors, seniors and pensioners, or ATO defined employees.
