Available for users who have access to employee profiles and the current issue tabs
The Issues Summary Hub brings payroll and work eligibility issues together on one page. Missing or invalid employee details can stop a payroll sync, cause a pay run to fail, or lead to a Single Touch Payroll (STP) lodgement error. Previously, these issues were spread across several tabs on the Employees page. Issues go unnoticed until they cause a pay run failure, STP lodgement error, or other operational problem. From the hub, you can see which records need attention, find out what to fix, and resolve each issue before it affects your pay run.

Open the Issues Summary Hub
You can open the hub from the People menu or from the Issues Summary Dashboard on the Total Workforce page. When the hub opens, the page title Issues Summary Hub appears with the subtitle "Surfacing workforce and operational issues in one place. Resolve errors before they cause a pay run failure, STP lodgement error, or wider workforce problems."
- Log in to Employment Hero.
- Click People in the menu.
- Click Issues Summary Hub in the sub-menu.
The hub opens with every issue section you have access to, so you do not need to switch between tabs. The Issues Summary Hub also appears as its own entry in the People sub-menu, alongside pages such as Vacancies & Requisitions and AI Import.
The Issues Summary Dashboard on the Total Workforce page shows a danger or warning badge when issues exist, and a success badge when all records are ready.
- Go to the Total Workforce page.
- If the dashboard shows a danger or warning badge, click Resolve Issues.
- If the dashboard shows a success badge, click View Issues Summary Hub.
Check card status at a glance
Each section heading and card heading shows a status badge, so you can see where issues remain.
- A green No Issues badge means there are no active issues in that section or card.
- A red Issues Found badge means active issues remain.
The badges update live as issues are resolved or new ones appear. Cards with active issues are expanded by default when the page loads. Cards with no issues collapse to their heading, and you cannot expand them. These cards do not show an empty-state message.
Resolve payroll issues card by card
The Payroll Issues section contains seven cards, in this order: Employee Files, Salary Versions, Lodgement, Leave Requests, Timesheets, Expenses, and Contractor Files. Each card opens with a short message that explains what it contains and why it matters. The actions and messages from the previous tabs are still available, now grouped within their own card.
Fix employee file issues before a pay run
The Employee Files card lists employees with missing or invalid data that may prevent a successful payroll sync.
Each affected employee appears in a table with four columns: Employee, Errors, Recommended Actions, and Actions. Each error appears once, with a recommended action.
Some errors come from the integration itself, such as an invalid access token or an employee in a pay run that has not been finalised. For these, the card shows guidance written for that specific error type, rather than a general instruction to update the employee file.
- Click the Actions dropdown for the employee, then click View Details.
- Make the fix in the employee's file.
- Return to the Issues Summary Hub.
- Click the Actions dropdown for the employee, then click Re-Sync or Retry.
The button reads Retry when the AIO Auto Sync to PR integration is enabled for your organisation, and Re-Sync when it is not. Both attempt to re-sync the employee's record to payroll. Once the issue is resolved, the employee no longer appears in the card. If no issues remain, the card collapses.
Helpful Hint
The employee's file does not have a direct link back to the hub. You can open the hub from the People menu, then click Issues Summary Hub.
Use this option when an employee's error relates to a Xero data conflict.
- Click the Actions dropdown for the employee.
- Click Override Xero Data.
This option overrides the conflicting Xero data for that employee. It appears only when it is available for that error.
- Click the Actions dropdown for an error you cannot resolve on your own.
- Click Contact Us to open the support channel.
The Contact Us option appears only when it is available for that error.
Correct salary versions before the next pay run
The Salary Versions card lists salary records that failed to sync to payroll. These records may result in incorrect pay.
Each affected record appears with five columns: Employee Name, Effect From, Errors, Recommended Action, and Actions.
- Click the Actions dropdown for the record.
- Click Re-Sync. The platform attempts to re-sync that record to payroll.
- Select the checkboxes for the records you want to re-sync.
- Click Re-Sync in the toolbar. The platform attempts to re-sync all selected records.
When a salary version issue is resolved, the record leaves the card. The card collapses if no issues remain.
Resolve lodgement errors before tax obligations are affected
The Lodgement card lists employees with STP lodgement errors. Fix these errors before tax obligations are affected. The Lodgement card does not appear on the Free plan.
The card opens with a message that there are lodgement errors and asks you to contact us at support@employmenthero.com if you need assistance. Each affected employee appears with three columns: Employees, Errors / Issues, and Actions.
- In the Actions column, click View details. The employee's file opens.
Resolve leave request sync failures
The Leave Requests card lists leave requests that failed to sync to payroll. These requests may not be reflected in the pay run.
Each failed request appears with six columns: Worker, Leave Category, Leave Period, Error, Recommended Action, and Actions.
Click the Actions dropdown for the leave request to see these options:
- Edit opens the edit page for that leave request.
- View Details opens a window with the full context of the error.
- Re-Sync attempts to re-sync the leave request to payroll. This option appears only when the AIO Auto Sync to PR integration is not enabled for your organisation.
- Contact Us opens the support channel. This option appears only when it is available for that error.
Once you resolve the cause of the failure, the leave request leaves the card.
Resolve timesheet sync failures
The Timesheets card lists timesheets that failed to sync to payroll. These timesheets may result in inaccurate hours in the pay run.
The columns depend on how your organisation records timesheets.
- For daily timesheets, the table shows Worker, Date, Start Time, End Time, Error, Recommended Action, and Actions.
- For weekly timesheets, the table shows Worker, Time Period, Date, Error, Recommended Action, and Actions.
Click the Actions dropdown for the timesheet to see these options:
- Edit opens the edit page for that timesheet.
- Re-Sync attempts to re-sync the timesheet to payroll. This option appears only for timesheets that can be re-synced, and only when the AIO Auto Sync to PR integration is not enabled for your organisation.
- Contact Us opens the support channel. This option appears only when it is available for that error.
Resolve expense sync failures
The Expenses card lists expenses that failed to sync to payroll. These expenses may not be reimbursed correctly.
Each failed expense appears with eight columns: Worker, Claim Date, Expense Category, Details, Amount, Error, Recommended Action, and Actions.
Use this for expenses that are not already paid.
- Click the Actions dropdown for the expense.
- Click Re-Sync, or Resolve issue where it appears. The platform attempts to re-sync that expense to payroll.
Use this when the error states that the expense has been paid.
- Click the Actions dropdown for the expense.
- Click Mark as paid. The expense is recorded as paid and removed from the active issues list.
If you suspect that some expenses were paid outside of the sync, use this check to find them.
- Click Check paid expenses.
The platform checks your connected payroll platform, such as Xero, for expenses already marked as paid there. Any matches appear with an "expense has been paid" error, so you can take action on them.
Prepare contractor files for payroll
The Contractor Files card lists contractors with missing or invalid data that may prevent a successful payroll sync.
Each affected contractor appears with four columns: Contractor, Errors, Recommended Actions, and Actions. Where relevant, the card also shows contractor-specific fields, such as hourly rate and tax calculation method.
- Click the Actions dropdown for the contractor, then click View Details.
- Make the fix in the contractor's file.
- In the Issues Summary Hub, click the Actions dropdown for the contractor, then click Re-Sync.
The contractor's file does not have a direct link back to the hub. Once the issues are resolved, the contractor leaves the card. The card collapses if no issues remain.
Resolve work eligibility issues in one list
The Work Eligibility section lists workers with work eligibility issues. Employees and contractors appear together in one list.
Each affected worker appears with three columns: Worker, Errors / Issues, and Actions.
- Click the search bar in the Work Eligibility section.
- Type the worker's name. The list shows only matching workers.
- In the Actions column, click View details. The worker's file opens.
- Make the fix in the worker's file.
- In the Actions column, click Offboard worker. The offboarding flow starts for that worker.
The Offboard worker option appears only when the worker's work eligibility cannot be resolved.
Re-sync several records at once
You can re-sync multiple records together, so you do not need to work through each row one at a time. When the AIO Auto Sync to PR integration is enabled for your organisation, some buttons read Retry instead of Re-Sync. Both buttons attempt to re-sync the record to payroll.
- Select the checkboxes for the records in the Employee Files or Contractor Files card.
- Click Re-Sync in the toolbar. If the button reads Retry, click that instead.
- Select the checkboxes for the leave requests you want to re-sync.
- Click Re-Sync in the toolbar.
This option appears only when the AIO Auto Sync to PR integration is not enabled for your organisation.
When the hub refreshes, records that the re-sync fixed leave their card. If no issues remain, the card collapses. Records that still have errors remain in the list, and their error message reflects the most recent sync attempt.
Hide issues from your active view
You can hide issues from your active view so you can focus on items that still require attention. Issues can be hidden in the Leave Requests, Timesheets, and Expenses cards.
Important
Hidden issues are not permanently discarded.
- Click the Actions dropdown for the record.
- Click Hide from Dashboard.
- Confirm in the confirmation window.
The record leaves the active list. If no issues remain in the card, the card collapses.
- Select the checkboxes for the records you want to hide.
- Click Hide from Dashboard in the toolbar.
- Confirm in the confirmation window.
All selected records leave the active list.
Check which cards and workers you can view
Your permissions control which cards and workers appear on the hub. Card visibility follows the permissions you already have for the issue tabs, which carry forward unchanged.
- If your access is scoped to a Group, you see only the workers in that Group, across all cards.
- If your access is scoped to a Location, you see only the workers in that Location, across all cards.
- If you have organisation-wide access, you see all workers with issues across all cards, regardless of Group or Location.

Understand why some cards do not appear
The hub shows only the cards that match the issue tabs you can already access.
Find out why the Lodgement card does not appear
The Lodgement card does not appear on the Free plan.
Expect Retry instead of Re-Sync on some records
When the AIO Auto Sync to PR integration is enabled for your organisation, employee records show Retry instead of Re-Sync. For leave requests and timesheets, the Re-Sync option does not appear when the integration is enabled. Both buttons attempt to re-sync the record to payroll.
Review the updated error when a re-sync fails
If a re-sync does not fix the error, the record stays in the card. The error message updates to show the result of the most recent sync attempt.
