Terminate an employee within a pay run

Available for the following Payroll plans: Standard, Premium

You can do this in a pay run using the Terminate Employee feature. This lets you choose the employee and choose their date and reason for leaving. The platform will then apply the correct termination payment to the employee record to make sure you give the correct severance pay. 

Warning

The instructions in this article apply to organisations using just the Payroll platform. If your HR platform is integrated with Employment Hero Payroll, please refer to this article: Terminate an employee.

Getting started

Terminate an employee
  1. Log into your Employment Hero Payroll platform.
  2. Click the   Pay Run menu.
  3. Click the pay run that needs an employee to be terminated.

  4. Click the employee name who needs to be terminated.

    Warning

    An employee included in an un-finalised pay run means you can not use the Terminate Employee feature. You will need to finalise any existing pay runs first and then process their termination.

  5. Click the Actions   button.
  6. Click the Terminate Employee button.

  7. Complete the following fields:
    • Termination date.
    • Termination reason.
  8. Click the Save button.

Cancel the employee termination
  1. Log into your Employment Hero Payroll platform.
  2. Click the   Pay Run menu.
  3. Click the pay run that needs an employee termination cancelled.

  4. Click the employee name who needs a termination payment cancelled.
  5. Click the Actions   button.
  6. Click the Cancel Termination button.
