A journal file export service is a tool that allows you to select the accounting software file export that matches your accounting platform's requirements, so that you can capture journal entries in your chart of accounts. If you use MYOB for your accounting software and journal service, and Employment Hero for your payroll, you would simply select the MYOB Accounting file option on your Employment Hero payroll platform via the Journal Service feature.
After selecting the MYOB export file option and setting up your chart of accounts, you can download your payroll journal data from a finalised a pay run and upload into your MYOB platform. The file format is not recognised by MYOB | Ensure that the file is saved in a .txt or .csv format as required by MYOB. If necessary, re-export the file and check the format before uploading. |
Account codes in the file do not match MYOB | Verify that the account codes in your journal file match the ones set up in MYOB. If needed, update your chart of accounts in MYOB or adjust the codes in Employment Hero before exporting. |
GST or tax codes are incorrect or missing | Some MYOB versions require specific tax codes. Double-check that tax codes are correctly mapped in Employment Hero before generating the export file. |
File upload fails or is rejected by MYOB | Try opening the exported file in a text editor (such as Notepad or Excel) to check for any unusual formatting or missing data. If you spot any errors, adjust your settings and re-export. |
Still having issues? | Try exporting a fresh journal file and reattempting the upload. If problems persist, consult MYOB’s support documentation or contact Employment Hero Support for assistance. |
