Policies serve to clarify, assure and reiterate standards expected of the company and their employees. A company will benefit from having current policies on hand for reasons including (but not limited to) that they can provide a roadmap for day-to-day operations. Make sure compliance with regulations, provide efficiencies for internal processes and make sure that are all can be treated fairly and equally.
Helpful Hint
Utilising, updating and distributing the policies is at the sole discretion of the employer. Though from an HR Best Practise perspective employers are encouraged to take advantage of our Document Templates and communicate them with their employees.
You can use our policies feature in your Employment Hero platform to support the creation and delivery of a set of rules, procedures or guidelines to your employees. As an example, the Employment Hero AU Leave Policy outlines the recent changes to the aforementioned Leave Entitlements and is available to all employers.
Regarding the updating of policies in accordance with Family and Domestic Violence Leave, this Leave is one of the minimum entitlements available to all employees in Australia, and listed in the National Employment Standards (NES).
As the NES are referenced in the Fair Work Information Statement (FWIS) and, along with the Fair Work Act (FWA) 2009, also referenced in our Employment Agreement templates in your platform. These reinforce your compliance with both documents and their changing information, respectively.
Using one of our Policies such as the AU Leave Policy will provide additional coverage and assurance to your team members of the company values, rules and regulations that represent the workplace.

You can find these documents either:
- In the the Compliance module under the Induction Content page for the FWIS.
- Referenced in the Australian Employment Agreement templates in the the Compliance module under the Document Templates page or the Employment Agreement(s)

Author recommended
So you have now read about each template type and you are now wondering, what next can I do. There are two recommendations I would make on this front and they are:
- Upload documents to an employee's file This feature allows you to select a document, complete any required variables, and then email it onto the chosen employee to accept and sign.
- Create and change organisation policies This feature allows you to choose from Employment Hero's pre-made content or upload your own documents and then share it with your employees.
