Running a turnover report

Available for the following plans: Employment Plus, Employment Unlimited
Available for the following HR classic plans: Premium, Platinum
Available for the following user access level: Admin

As an organisation, by running the Turnover Report, administrators can track and check the number of personnel your company lost over a given period. The Turnover Report includes two pie charts and a column chart showing at a glance your company's turnover, and below this we have added a detailed table that displays the terminated personnel data from the column chart. You can filter, analyse, and export this data via CSV for further review.

Important

The turnover report will only show terminations for personnel who were fully onboarded. As this is intended logic, to avoid confusion with the Turnover Report in the future, our team would recommend that all personnel are fully onboarded and activate their files to be included in all report data.

Getting started

Create a turnover report
  1. Click the   Reports menu.
  2. Click the People tab.
  3. Click the Turnover Report box.

Important

The column chart will display both employees and independent contractors, but does not display pending users.
The pie charts display both employees and contractors. For the 12-Month Turnover: Company pie chart specifically, the "Terminated" category includes both pending and active users, while the "Active" category includes only active users.

Understanding the Turnover Table

Below the charts, you'll find a detailed table that displays the terminated personnel who make up the column chart. This table provides a comprehensive breakdown of individual terminations, making it easy to analyse turnover data at the personnel level.

The table includes the following columns:

  • Personnel: The name of the terminated employee or contractor
  • Groups: Any groups the personnel belonged to
  • Location: The work location assigned to the personnel
  • Job Title: The position held by the personnel
  • Employment Type: Whether the personnel was full-time, part-time, casual, or another employment type
  • Start Date: The date the personnel commenced employment
  • Termination Date: The date the personnel's employment ended
  • Duration: The length of tenure with the organisation (This can be changed with the filter to show the tenure in Days, Months or Years)

You can sort the table by any column by clicking on the column header. This allows you to quickly identify patterns, such as which locations or job titles have the highest turnover, or which personnel had the shortest or longest tenure.

Export turnover data

The Turnover Report now allows you to export the table data for further analysis or record-keeping.

  1. Apply any filters you want to include in your export.
  2. Locate the download icon at the top-right of the Turnover Table.
  3. Click the download icon to export the table data as a CSV file.

  4. Open the CSV file in your preferred spreadsheet application for further analysis.

The exported file will include all the columns shown in the table, filtered according to your selections. This makes it easy to share turnover data with stakeholders, conduct detailed analysis, or maintain historical records.

Further information

What do the charts mean?

12-Month Turnover: Company

This chart will show you what your 12-month turnover is within your company, with two options shown: terminated personnel and active personnel you have had over the last 12 months.

12-Month Turnover: Groups

This chart will show you the turnover number broken down by your organisation's groups as opposed to a straight active vs terminated chart shown in the company graph. If you need to assign personnel to a group, refer to this article, whereas to create a group refer to this article.

Turnover Column Chart

This chart displays terminated personnel over the selected date range, broken down by the period you've chosen. The detailed table below the charts shows the individual personnel that make up this column chart, allowing you to drill down into specific terminations and analyse trends at a granular level.

How do the new filters work?

The Turnover Report includes several filters to help you customise your view:

  • Date Range: Select a custom start and end date to view turnover data for any period. This replaces the previous Timeframe filter and offers greater flexibility.
  • Duration: Filter by tenure length to see terminations for personnel who were with the organisation for specific periods (e.g., less than 6 months, 6-12 months, over 1 year). This can be changed with the filter to show the tenure in Days, Months or Years
  • Primary Manager: Filter terminations by the manager responsible for the personnel, helping you identify turnover patterns within specific teams.
  • Personnel Type: Filter between employees and contractors to analyse turnover separately for each group.

These filters apply to both the charts and the table, ensuring consistent data across the entire report.

What's the difference between the column chart and the table?

The column chart provides a high-level visual overview of turnover trends over time, showing the number of terminations across the selected date range.

The table below the charts shows the detailed, individual personnel records that make up the column chart. Each row in the table represents one terminated employee or contractor, providing the granular data behind the visual trends shown in the column chart.

This combination allows you to spot trends at a glance whilst also having access to the specific details needed for deeper analysis or follow-up actions.
