The Perks Store allows you to purchase discounted digital gift cards from over 58 brands through our partner, Prezzee. Hero Points are a digital currency used to recognize and reward your team, which can be used alongside credit cards to redeem these rewards.
1. Understanding Hero Points for Administrators
Administrators can use Hero Points as the foundation of their reward and recognition strategy within the Canadian market.
- Milestones: Automatically send Hero Points to employees for work anniversaries and birthdays.
- Company Values: Assign Hero Points when an employee is formally recognized by peers or managers.
- Purchasing Points: Administrators can purchase Hero Points packages to fund their recognition programs.
Conversion Rates (Canada): All transactions are processed in CAD$. The approximate conversion is $1 CAD to 20 Hero Points (e.g., a $50 CAD purchase provides approximately 1000 Hero Points).
2. Using the Perks Store (Employees)
Employees can use the Perks Store to purchase digital gift cards at discounted prices using accumulated points or a credit card.
Before shopping, you can verify your available points:
- Web Platform: Navigate to Benefits & Perks My Points. Your balance will be displayed at the top.
- EH Work App: Tap the Money or Perks tab to see your balance.
- Navigate to Benefits & Perks Perks Store.
- Browse Retailers: Use the search bar or filters to find a specific brand (e.g., Prezzee partners).
- Select Amount: Click a gift card tile and choose your desired dollar denomination.
- Review Terms: Check the How it works and T&Cs tabs for expiry dates.
- Payment Allocation: Click Buy Now. On the checkout page, use the Hero Points slider to apply your balance.
- Finalize: If points don't cover the total, pay the remainder via Visa or Mastercard. Click Pay to open the secure Stripe pop-up.
Fee Structure & Exclusions
- Service Fee: A 0.5% fee is included in the displayed gift card price.
- Transaction Fee: A 1.1% credit card fee applies to any portion paid via card.
- Exclusion: Earned Wage Access (EWA) is not available in Canada as a payment method.
3. Accessing Your Rewards
For security reasons, Employment Hero does not email gift card details. You must access them directly through the platform.
- Navigate to Benefits & Perks Order History.
- Locate your purchase and click the Detail button.
- Click the downward-facing arrow next to the gift card to reveal the digital code and PIN.
- Click How to redeem for specific instructions (e.g., in-store barcode vs. online code).
Important Information
Your gift card is active only if a balance is displayed. Once fully used or expired, the status will change to Used or Expired.
