UK employers must verify every new hire’s right to work, regardless of industry, company size, or nationality, as required by the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. These checks prevent illegal employment and help employers avoid fines and penalties.
You can integrate your Employment Hero account with Zinc seamlessly to perform your pre-employment right-to-work (RTW) checks.
This article explains how to:
Set up your Employment Hero - Zinc integration
- Log in to Employment Hero.
- Click on Settings on the left-hand side menu.
- Click on Add ons.
- Scroll down to the Other section to find the Zinc integration.
- Click on the Connect button.
- Tick I acknowledge and agree to the above terms.
- Click on Submit.
- Enter your API key from Zinc.
- Click the Submit button.
- You will now see Zinc under Connected Applications in Employment Hero.
Perform right-to-work checks
- Log in to Employment Hero.
- Click on Recruitment on the left-hand side menu.
- Click on the Recruitment option.
- Click on the Candidates tab.
- Select the candidate for whom you want to perform a right-to-work check.
- Click on the Right-to-work check tab.
- Click on Run check.
- Click on Continue.
- Next, Zinc will contact the candidate to gather their personal information, perform the independent verification, then the completed right-to-work check will appear in the candidate's profile.
- Log in to Employment Hero.
- Click on Recruitment on the left-hand side menu.
- Click on the Recruitment option.
- Click on the Jobs tab.
- Select the job for which you want to perform a right-to-work check.
- Select the candidate for whom you want to perform a right-to-work check from the left-hand side list.
- Click on the Right-to-work check tab.
- Click on Run check.
- Click on Continue.
- Next, Zinc will contact the candidate to gather their personal information, perform the independent verification, then the completed right-to-work check will appear in the candidate's profile.
- Log in to Employment Hero.
- Click on People on the left-hand side menu.
- Click on Employees List.
- Select the employee for whom you want to perform a right-to-work check.
- Click on the Work Eligibility tab.
- Click on Run check.
- In the pop-up window, click on Run check.
- Next, Zinc will contact the candidate to gather their personal information, perform the independent verification, then the completed right-to-work check will appear in the candidate's profile.
Further information
Click on the Zinc report link, which will take you to the report within Zinc. Here you can review the details of the RTW check.
Back in Employment Hero, click on the Sync status option, which will change to reviewed, once you have reviewed the RTW check details in Zinc.
Once Zinc has completed a RTW check for a candidate, the admin who initiated the check will receive an email both Zinc and Employment Hero, letting you know that the process is complete.
