Save and resume a custom form draft on web and mobile

Available for the following User Access levels: Employee

Previously, stepping away from a long custom form meant losing all your progress or having to submit incomplete answers. The Save draft feature lets you save your progress at any point and come back to it later with all your answers already filled in. You can save a draft on both web and mobile.

This article covers how to:

Save a form draft on web

Save your progress on a form on web

When you are filling out a fresh form on web, you will see Cancel, Save draft, and Submit buttons. You can click Save draft at any point. You do not need to answer all required fields first. Your current answers and any uploaded files are saved as a draft.

  1. Log in to Employment Hero.
  2. Go to Compliance > Forms.
  3. Choose the form you want to fill out.
  4. Enter your answers in the form.
  5. Click Save draft.
  6. A Draft saved. confirmation will appear near the button. You will then be redirected to the form list page.

Helpful hint

If you click Cancel after entering answers without saving, an Unsaved changes modal will appear with the message: Your changes since the last save will be lost. You can choose Save progress to save your current answers as a draft before exiting, or Exit without saving to leave. Exiting without saving does not delete any previously saved draft. It only discards changes made since your last save.

If the form contains a file upload field, helper text will appear below the field: Uploaded files are saved with your draft.

Important

You can discard a draft from the following places:

  • On web, from My submissions: Click the three dots dropdown on the draft row, then click Discard draft.
  • On web or mobile, from within the open form: When you have resumed a draft, click or tap the Discard draft button inside the form.
  • On mobile, from My drafts: Use the Discard draft action on the draft card.

In all cases, a confirmation modal will appear with the message: Your saved progress will be permanently deleted. This cannot be undone. Click Discard draft to confirm, or Cancel to go back.

Further information

What happens if the form changes after I save a draft?

If questions have been added or removed from the form since you saved your draft, your answers for questions that still exist will be pre-filled when you resume. Answers for any removed questions are silently discarded. Any new required questions will be highlighted as unanswered, but they will not stop you from saving the draft again.

What happens if a file I uploaded to my draft is no longer available?

If a file you previously attached to your draft is no longer available in storage when you resume, the form will open with all your other answers pre-filled, but that file will be missing. A notice will appear: Some files could not be restored. Re-upload them before submitting. You will need to re-upload the file before you can submit.

What if the form has been archived since I saved my draft?

If a form is archived after you saved a draft for it, the draft will still appear in My submissions on web and in the My drafts section on mobile. However, you will see the message: This form is no longer available for submission. You can discard this draft. You can discard the draft, but you cannot submit it.
