Available for the following users: Admin, users with pay run access
The System calculations modal gives you a clear, read-only breakdown of exactly how each figure in a UK pay run was calculated for an individual employee — covering Gross Pay, Pay As You Earn (PAYE) Tax, National Insurance (NI), Pension, Deductions, and Net Pay. You can also view detailed National Minimum Wage (NMW) and National Living Wage (NLW) calculation details for the employee. Instead of switching between screens or cross-referencing the payslip manually, you can now expand each line directly in the modal to see the component-level detail behind every number, split by employer and employee amounts.
Before you start, make sure your organisation is connected to KeyPay, is using eOS DIY payroll, and has the core_eOS_payroll_settings entitlement enabled.

View system calculations for an employee
This section shows you how to open the System calculations modal for any employee in a UK pay run and explore the detailed breakdown of their pay figures.
- Log in to Employment Hero as an Admin or a user with pay run access.
- Go to Pay > Run Payroll.
- Open the relevant pay run.
- Locate the employee whose calculations you want to review and open their detail view within the pay run.
- In the employee detail action bar, select the System calculations view button. This button sits directly in the action bar — not inside the Actions menu.
- The System calculations modal opens, showing a breakdown of: Gross Pay, PAYE Tax, National Insurance, Pension, Deductions, and Net Pay.
- Use the Employer / Employee toggle at the top of the modal to switch between employer and employee figures.
- Select the chevron next to any row to expand it and view the detailed breakdown behind that figure — for example, tax code, tax calculation method, per-band rates, NI thresholds, or pension contribution percentages.
- Select the chevron again to collapse the row.
- Select Close in the modal footer to dismiss the modal.
Helpful Hint
The System calculations modal is read-only — opening it does not trigger any recalculation. All figures shown match the employee's finalised payslip for the same pay run.
