You can add locations to the Employment Hero platform from anywhere in the world. When you include a location from a supported region, such as the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, or Singapore, the platform automatically populates employees' profiles with relevant country-specific features. Additionally, setting up locations links employees to a public holiday calendar specific to their location, enabling them to submit leave requests based on the public holidays that apply to them.

Getting started
- Click the Settings menu.
- Click the Locations and Public Holidays submenu.
- Click the Locations tab.
- Click the Add New Location button.
- Complete the following fields:
- Name.
- Country.
- Description.
- Select Yes or No for the Set this location as the default location for new employees toggle switch.
Helpful Hint
If you have more than one default work location, you can turn on this setting to make all new employees part of that location by default.
- Click the Submit button.
- Click the Settings menu.
- Click the Locations and Public Holidays submenu.
- Click the Public Holidays tab.
- Click the Add New Calendar button.
- Click the Standard Public Holiday Calendar tick box.
- If you want to deduct public holidays from the leave balance of part-time employees, tick the Exclude part-time Employee from the Public Holiday Calendar checkbox.
- Complete the following fields.
- Name.
- Locations.
- Standard public holiday calendar.
- Click the Submit button.
- Click the Settings menu.
- Click the Locations and Public Holidays submenu.
- Click the Public Holidays tab.
- Click the Add New Calendar button.
- Click the Custom Holiday Calendar tick box.
- If you want to deduct public holidays from the leave balance of part-time employees, tick the "Exclude part-time employee from the Public Holiday Calendar" checkbox.
- Complete the following fields:
- Name.
- Locations.
- Year.
- Click the Add New button to enter your custom public holiday.
Helpful Hint
Click the Remove button to delete a custom calendar entry.
- Click the Submit button.
Editing data
- Click the Settings menu.
- Click the Locations and Public Holidays submenu.
- Click the Actions button.
- Click the Edit button.
- If you want to deduct public holidays from the leave balance of part-time employees, tick the Exclude Part-time Employee from the Public Holiday Calendar checkbox.
- Edit the following fields:
- Name.
- Locations.
Helpful Hint
You can use the Calendar Year drop-down to see what public holiday dates Employment Hero has provided for a different year. You cannot edit the Year field; it is merely there to show you the public holidays for a given year.
- Click the Save button.
- Click the Settings menu.
- Click the Locations and Public Holidays submenu.
- Click the Actions button.
- Click the Edit button.
- If you want to deduct public holidays from the leave balance of part-time employees, tick the Exclude Part-time Employee from the Public Holiday Calendar checkbox.
- Make the required changes and click the Save button
Removing data
Important
The deleting a location feature is only available when a location is not in use by an active employee.
Warning
When deleting a public holiday calendar, we will prevent you from removing this entry if any holiday date within the calendar has a leave request attached to it. You can see this info as the platform will grey out a public holiday date that is in use.
