Manage entitlement-based leave types

Available for the following plans: Employment Lite, Employment Plus, Employment Unlimited
Available for the following user access levels: Manager, Admin

Entitlement-based leave means employees will accrue leave in advance on a monthly or yearly basis.

Add an entitlement-based leave type

Adding an entitlement-based leave type
  1. Log into Employment Hero.
  2. Click on the Settings option in the left-hand side menu.
  3. Under the Payroll Settings subheading, click on Leave Settings.
  4. Click on Add Leave Type button.

  5. Add the Leave Type Name.

  6. Select Entitlement-based in the leave type setup options.

  7. In Return to work form (optional) select if you want to add the following settings:
    • Include a return to work for this leave category
    • Leave reason required.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Next, you will need to add a Leave Policy.
  10. Add the Leave Policy Name.

  11. Add the Accrual Details. Add the following:
    • When the accrual starts
    • The amount accrued.

    Helpful Hint

    If you want to add another tier, click the + Add Tier button.

  12. Under Limited, add the following:
    • Not limited
    • Limited to.

    Helpful Hint

    Limited refers to the maximum amount of leave that an employee will be able to accrue.

  13. Under Carry-over amount, select the following:
    • Unlimited
    • Up to
    • None.

  14. In Carry-over date, select the date and the month that the leave will be carried over.
  15. In Forfeiture, select the following:
    • No forfeiture
    • All carry-over forfeited
    • Fixed amount.

  16. Click Save.

  17. Assign this leave type to your employees by sliding across the employees you wish to add to the Selected column.

  18. Click Save.

Enable leave rounding with entitlement-based leave

Enable leave rounding

Warning

Leave rounding will only work with entitlement-based leave, in hours or days (not weeks), and accrues annually. Carryover leave is not rounded up. 

  1. Log into Employment Hero.
  2. Click on the Settings option in the left-hand side menu.
  3. Under the Payroll Settings subheading, click on Leave Settings.
  4. Click on the Advanced Settings tab.

  5. Select the leave rounding option - 0.5 day or whole day.

  6. Click on the Leave Category tab.

  7. Find your entitlement-based leave type and click on the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner.

  8. Click on Edit.

  9. Tick Yes I want to apply leave rounding rules.

  10. Click on Save.

View rounded leave in the Leave Balance History
  1. Log into Employment Hero.
  2. Click on People option in the left-hand side menu.
  3. Click on Employees List.
  4. Choose the employee whose rounded leave you would like to view.
  5. In Employment Records, click on Leave Details.
    Click on leave details
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the Leave Details section to view the Leave Balance History. 
  7. From the dropdown menu, select Entitlement-based leave.

  8. Here you will see where Employment Hero has rounded up the leave to a full or half-day.
