Find Talent is a recruitment feature within Employment Hero that connects you with relevant candidates from a pool of 2 million job seekers. It uses candidate matching, powered by Hero AI, to surface candidates based on your job title, location, and search criteria without requiring you to post a job ad first.

This article will show you how to manage the following:

Functional overview

Use Find Talent for hiring

You can use Find Talent to perform the following tasks:

  • Search for candidates for a current job opening using natural language (job title, location, or keywords).
  • Search by an existing job listing to surface candidates more closely aligned to your job description.
  • Save candidates to your talent pool for future hiring needs.
  • Invite candidates directly to apply for a role.
  • Backfill a vacated role when an employee leaves.
Access the Find Talent feature

Navigate to Recruitment in the left sidebar, then click Find Talent.

Candidate matching logic

Understand candidate matching

Candidate matching, powered by Hero AI, compares your search criteria including job title, location, skills, and experience against candidate profiles created on Employment Hero Jobs. The more detail you provide, the more closely aligned your results will be.

Improve the quality of your results

To ensure your results are highly relevant, follow these practices:

  • Use specific, commonly used job titles (for example, "Front End Software Developer" rather than "Developer").
  • Include a location if the role is not remote.
  • Use the Search by job feature if you have an open job listing as this matches against your full job description for more precise results.
  • Make sure job listings have accurate addresses, as location is a primary matching factor.

Access and permissions

Determine user access levels

Access to Find Talent is determined by user type:

  • Admins and Owners: Full access to see and save candidate matches for all roles.
  • Users with Recruitment Use access: Full access to see and save candidate matches for all roles.
  • Users with recruitment-related job titles: Can see and save candidate matches if their title includes Talent, Recruiter, Recruitment, HR, People, or Culture.
  • People Managers: Can see matches for roles below them in the organizational hierarchy.
  • Hiring Managers: Can see matches for roles they are listed as hiring manager for.
Manage saved candidates and job assignments

Visibility: Admins and full Recruitment users see all candidates saved by anyone. People Managers see candidates they saved plus those in jobs they created. Hiring Managers see only candidates they saved themselves.

Adding to jobs: Admins and full Recruitment users can add saved candidates to any open job. People Managers can add to jobs they have access to. Hiring Managers can add to listings they are assigned to.

Privacy and sourcing

Source of candidates

Candidates are sourced from Employment Hero Jobs. All job seekers have created a profile and consented to share their information with potential employers. Some candidates may limit communication preferences; in these cases, you can only contact them via the platform, not by phone or email.

Employee privacy

Your employees are excluded from candidate matching results shown to other organisations. Employment Hero uses account email addresses to identify and exclude active employees from external recommendations. We recommend ensuring employees have their personal email addresses recorded in their file for more effective exclusion.

Transition from SmartMatch

The SmartMatch dashboard was retired on 31 March 2026. Find Talent replaces it as the primary search interface. While candidate matching technology still powers the feature, it now uses natural language search. All previously saved candidates were migrated automatically.

Note

Interested Candidates (candidates expressing direct interest in your organisation) is not currently supported in the Find Talent interface.
