Question

How do I enable rewards for birthday and work anniversary milestones?

Answer

If you would like to post birthdays and anniversaries to the company feed, we recommend using our Milestone feature. It allows you to post a special message for each employee to celebrate their milestone. On the employee's birthday, everyone can leave a comment on the post to wish them well. It will also notify the employee that their birthday has been recognised in the company feed.

Configure employee rewards

Helpful Hint

The HR platform calculates an employee's work anniversary based on the Start Date field. You can find this field within the Employment Details tab of an employee profile. To read further information on this page, refer to the following article.

  1. Click the Settings menu.
  2. In the Performance & Recognition section, click Rewards.
  3. Click the Edit button.

  4. Choose to switch ‌the toggle switch on or off for the following options:
    • Birthdays.
    • Work anniversaries.
  5. For Birthdays, enter the flat reward amount to be given to every employee on their birthday.
  6. For Work anniversaries, choose a reward model:

    • Flat reward — every employee receives the same amount on every anniversary, regardless of tenure.
    • Baseline with Tenure Tiers — set a default baseline amount paid on every anniversary, then add one or more tiers, each with a minimum years-of-service threshold and a reward amount. When an employee reaches a tier's threshold, they receive that tier's amount on that and every subsequent anniversary, until they reach a higher tier. If an employee hasn't reached any tier yet, they receive the baseline amount.
    • Baseline with Milestone Overrides — set a default baseline amount paid on every anniversary, then add one or more milestone years (e.g. Year 5, Year 10) with their own override amount. The override amount only applies in the exact year of the milestone; every other anniversary is paid at the baseline amount.

    Helpful Hint

With Tenure Tiers, the highest tier an employee has reached is always applied. For example, with tiers set at 5 years and 10 years, an employee in their 9th year still receives the 5-year tier amount, since they haven't yet reached the 10-year threshold.

  7. Enter the required baseline and tier or milestone amounts for each event.
  8. Choose whether to enable this for:
    • HeroForce employees.
    • Contractors.
  9. Once saved, use the Upcoming work anniversaries list to preview the exact reward amount each employee is due to receive on their next anniversary, based on their current tenure. This lets you confirm your tenure tiers or milestone overrides are configured as intended before rewards are distributed.

    Helpful Hint

Tenure tiers and milestone overrides apply organisation-wide across all regions — you cannot set different tier or milestone amounts per region. You can, however, enable or configure rewards separately for each region your organisation operates in (e.g. Australia and New Zealand).

  10. Click the Save button.

    Helpful Hint

Hero Point distribution occurs on the day of the event (Birthday or Anniversary) at 21:00 UTC (08:00 AM Sydney time), with a resend for any missing Hero Points at 22:00 UTC (09:00 AM Sydney time).
