What is Employment Hero Chat?
Employment Hero Employment Hero Chat is an in-platform messaging feature that allows your workforce to communicate in real time via the Employment Hero Work app and web platform.
How do I access Employment Hero Chat?
On your computer
From the Employment Hero dashboard, click on the Connect button in the top right-hand side of the screen.
From the Employment Hero Work app
From any screen in the app, along the bottom navigation bar, click on Connect on the bottom right-hand side of the screen.
Is Employment Hero Chat available on all subscription plans?
Employment Hero Chat is included in Employment Unlimited. For all other HR subscription plans (including legacy plans), Employment Hero Chat is available as a paid add-on.
How is Employment Hero Chat priced?
Employment Hero Chat is available as an add-on at a per-user monthly rate. Pricing may vary by region.
Can I enable Employment Hero Chat for only part of my workforce?
No. Employment Hero Chat is applied to your entire workforce and billed accordingly.
Who can access Employment Hero Chat?
Employment Hero Chat is available to all personnel in your organisation, including employees and contractors.

Is Employment Hero Chat available on mobile?
Yes. Employment Hero Chat is available on iOS and Android via the Employment Hero Work app, with a mobile-first design for frontline workers.
Is Employment Hero Chat available on desktop?
Yes. Employment Hero Chat is also available via the Employment Hero web platform.
Is Employment Hero Chat part of the Employment Hero app?
Yes. Employment Hero Chat is built directly into the Employment Hero Work app and web experience. No separate app is required.
Does Employment Hero Chat sync across devices?
Yes. Messages and conversations sync in real time across mobile and web.
Does Employment Hero Chat work offline?
No. Employment Hero Chat requires an internet connection.
Messaging and features
Can I create group Employment Hero Chats?
Yes. You can create group Employment Hero Chats with up to 10 participants.
Can I edit or delete messages?
Yes. You can edit or delete your own messages. Edited messages will display an "edited" label. Deleted messages will display a "message deleted" label.
Can deleted messages be recovered?
Deleted messages are removed from the Employment Hero Chat view but retained for audit purposes.
Notifications
Will I receive notifications for new messages?
Yes. Push notifications are sent for new messages within your allowed notification settings.
Can I control when I receive notifications?
Yes. Notifications respect your app-level notification preferences, including quiet hours.
Permissions and controls
Can admins control who has access to Employment Hero Chat?
No. All personnel have equal access to Employment Hero Chat.
Can admins restrict who can message whom?
Not currently.
Can Employment Hero Chat be disabled?
Not currently within the platform. This can be managed manually via Employment Hero Support if required.
Data, security and compliance
Where is Employment Hero Chat data stored?
Your data is hosted in the same region as your organisation: Australia & New Zealand → Sydney, UK → EU West (Dublin), Canada → US East, Singapore & Malaysia → Singapore.
Is Employment Hero Chat data retained?
Yes. Employment Hero Chat data is retained for as long as your organisation has an active subscription.
Are there storage limits?
No. There are no storage limits for Employment Hero Chat data.
Can we export Employment Hero Chat data?
Yes. Employment Hero Chat data can be exported via a Product Support request for compliance, legal, or audit purposes.
Are Employment Hero Chats auditable?
Yes. All Employment Hero Chat activity is logged and auditable. This can be requested via Employment Hero Support if required.
Can edited or deleted messages be audited?
Yes. All versions of messages (including deleted content) are retained and available for audit.
Employee lifecycle
What happens to Employment Hero Chat data when an employee leaves?
When an employee is offboarded, their account is deactivated, they lose access to Employment Hero Chat, and their Employment Hero Chat history is retained.
