Casual to permanent employment conversion alert

Under the 2026 Fair Work Act (NES) amendments, Australian employers must proactively offer permanent employment to casual employees once they reach a 12-month qualifying period. Employment Hero now flags this at hire time so no employer is caught off guard.

How to set a casual to permanent employment alert

  1. Log in to Employment Hero.
  2. Click on People.
  3. Click on Employee List.
  4. Click on + Add New Employee. 
  5. Begin the onboarding process. To read about this in detail, click on this onboarding article. 
  6. At Employment Type, select Casual. 
  7. Tick Regular and systematic?
  8. Continue with the onboarding process. 
  9. Now you will receive an alert in the Employee File when the casual employee is approaching a 12-month qualifying period.
