The search tools in your Applicant Tracking System (ATS) help you quickly find the right candidates for your roles. You can search candidates by name, phone number, or email address to locate a specific applicant in your candidate list.
How to search for candidates
Use the search bar at the top of your candidate list to find applicants quickly. The search works across key contact fields, making it easy to locate a specific candidate.
- Click the Recruitment menu.
- Click the Recruitment submenu.
- Click on the job you want to fill.
- Locate the search bar in the top right-hand corner of the candidate list.
The search bar looks across three candidate fields: name, phone number, and email address.
Key features of the search:
- Partial matching - You don't need to type the full value. For example, searching "john" will find candidates with "John" or "Johnson" in their name.
- Single term only - Enter one search term at a time. Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) are not currently supported.
- Real-time results - Results appear as you type, updating your candidate list immediately.
Example searches
- Search a candidate's name like "Sarah" or "Chen" to find matching applicants
- Search a phone number or partial number like "0412" to find candidates by mobile
- Search an email address or domain like "gmail.com" to locate candidates by email
Troubleshooting
If you can't find a candidate you know applied, check whether you have filters applied that might be excluding them. Clear all filters and try your search again. Also verify that the name, phone number, or email address you're searching for is correctly recorded in the candidate's profile.
If you're seeing unexpected results, remember that partial matching is applied across name, phone number, and email. For example, searching "03" may return candidates whose phone number or email contains those characters. Try using a more specific or complete search term to narrow your results.
Currently, the search bar supports single terms only and searches across name, phone number, and email address fields. Boolean operators like AND, OR, and NOT are not supported. To search using multiple criteria, try combining your search term with the filtering options on your candidate list.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, visible match indicators are planned for a future release. This enhancement will show tags or highlights indicating which profile fields matched your search term, making it easier to understand why candidates appear in your results.
