Leave categories and policies now have separate tabs on the leave settings page, so you can set up each one on its own. Each record shows more detail, and the forms have more space to work through. Use this article to open the page, compare the new layout with the previous one, and set up your leave categories and policies.
Open the leave settings page
- Log in to Employment Hero.
- On the right panel, click Settings.
- Under the Time & Attendance tile, click Leave Settings.
Changes on the leave settings page
The table compares the previous leave settings page with the new one.
| Area | Previous page | New page |
|---|---|---|
| Layout | Policies nested under their category | Separate tabs for categories and policies |
| Creating a category | Slim and long form | Larger form with more space to work through it |
| Adding a policy | Three-dot menu. Custom categories redirect to another page, and system categories cannot take new policies | Created on the Policies tab |
| What the list shows | Only the number of employees attached. The list does not explain what each category or policy is | Category and policy records show more detail. The views section below lists each field |
| Moving between records | Lots of moving back and forth between different screens | On a category that has policies, click through to the Policies tab, which shows that category's policies |

What is the order for setting up a new leave type?
Create the leave category first on its own tab. Then add its policies on the Policies tab. You can also create a policy without creating a category first.
