Employment Hero integrates directly with Indeed so that all public jobs on your careers page can be automatically posted as free ads on Indeed.

Read this guide to learn how to get started and post ads on Indeed.

Summary: How to get the integration live

  1. Mark old jobs as closed: Any job still marked as active in Employment Hero will be published to Indeed. Close any roles you no longer want listed. If you have never posted a job via the Employment Hero ATS, you can skip this step.
  2. Create an Indeed Employer account: Sign up at Indeed using your work email and set up two-factor authentication. Skip this step if you’ve already got an Indeed employer account.
  3. Integrate Employment Hero with Indeed: Go to the Job Boards page in Recruitment and connect via the new Indeed tile.
  4. Re-sponsor jobs if needed: All jobs should appear as free ads within 6 hours of integrating. To boost visibility, sponsor ads directly in your Indeed Employer account.

Getting started

Step 1: Mark jobs as closed

All active jobs on your careers page will be posted to Indeed as free ads. You can’t pick and choose jobs individually.

To prevent old or unwanted jobs being published:

  • From the list of jobs in the Recruitment module, click the three-dot menu → Close job.
    close this job

  • Or within a job go to Edit jobJob advertsClose advert.
Step 2: Create an Indeed Employer account

New to Indeed? For new Indeed clients who integrate their jobs with Employment Hero, we're offering a $200 AUD Sponsored Job credit. Follow the instructions below to redeem the credit.

  1. Go to this dedicated signup page and click "Claim your $200 credit."
  2. Enter your work email address and other details to sign up as an Employer.
  3. Your new Indeed account has been created. Leave Indeed and head back to Employment Hero.
Step 3: Integrate Employment Hero with Indeed
  1. In Employment Hero, go to RecruitmentJob Boards.
  2. Find the Indeed tile under “Free”.
    choose indeed
  3. Enter your business details:

    • Company name.
    • Source name - Must match the name in your Indeed Employer account; if this is pre-filled, it has been verified by Indeed, so you can leave it pre-filled.
    • Business email.

    connect to indeed

  4. Submit the form.
  5. Verify your email via the confirmation sent by Indeed.

Until verification is complete, the connection will show as Pending. Once confirmed, all public roles will be aggregated to Indeed, subject to Indeed’s job posting standards.

Step 4: Re-sponsor jobs (optional)
  • Once integrated, all public roles on your careers page will be posted as free ads to Indeed.
  • It may take up to 6 hours for roles to appear.
  • If you want to boost visibility and use your $200 sponsored job credit, log in to your Indeed Employer account and sponsor the ads directly there.

Further information

Disposition Data

As part of connecting to Indeed, you will need to confirm your opt-in to sharing disposition data with Indeed on your behalf. Employment Hero will only share disposition data with Indeed for candidates that have applied to your job(s) via Indeed, not from any other platform or job board.

Disposition data refers to hiring status updates you make to Indeed candidates within your recruitment module. For example, if you move Jane Johnson from new to interview, we will pass that information along to Indeed, along with a timestamp. We do not share personal data — this information is sent in anonymised and de-identified form.

What are the benefits?

Sharing disposition data with Indeed improves the targeting of ads and candidate matching. Employers also receive a “responsive employer” badge, signalling to candidates that applications won’t be ignored.

Can I opt out?

Yes. Edit the Indeed tile on your Job Boards page and uncheck the disposition data option. Note that you will lose the responsive employer badge, and jobs with disposition data enabled generally perform better.

Indeed job posting standards

Indeed may remove jobs that are misleading, low-quality, or negatively impact the job seeker experience. Certain organisations (e.g. staffing or recruitment agencies) are not eligible for free postings and must sponsor their jobs. Please review Indeed’s Job Posting Standards to ensure your ads comply.

Troubleshooting

How do I find my job on Indeed?

Indeed has different sites per location, so make sure you visit the local Indeed page based on your job location. A job in Australia will be published on au.indeed.com, whereas a job in the UK on uk.indeed.com. Search for your job on Indeed by using this format in the Indeed job search bar:

  • company:"[your company name]"

For example, for a company called 'Wonka Industries', the search would be:

  • company:"Wonka Industries"

You can also add the job's location or apply additional filters if needed.

My jobs aren’t appearing on Indeed.

It may take up to 6 hours for jobs to sync. Check that your source name matches your Indeed Employer account - you can do this with your Indeed Account Manager or by contacting the Indeed team. Free postings aren’t available to recruitment/staffing agencies, so roles posted by these organisations must be sponsored.

My job was removed.

Review Indeed’s Job Posting Standards and reach out to the Indeed Support Team if needed.

Can I choose certain roles not to be posted to Indeed?

No, you can no longer select Indeed for individual roles. Once integrated, all open roles on your careers page will be aggregated to Indeed as free ads, provided they adhere to Indeed’s job posting standards.

Can I sponsor Indeed jobs in Employment Hero?

No, you can’t sponsor on Indeed within Employment Hero. You must sponsor ads directly in Indeed.
