Intermediary {Business Name} has invalid characters in the contact phone number | Payroll classic STP lodgement warning

Warning

Type. Feature. Warning Name.
Lodgement warning. Business Details. Intermediary {Business Name} has invalid characters in the contact phone number.

Explanation

This warning shows when your business has not correctly entered your intermediaries' phone number on your organisation's Australian Tax Office (ATO) Settings page, i.e. the field contains a phone number with over 16 characters. If you have not set up this information correctly, the platform will display the above warning when you go to submit a Single Touch Payroll (STP) lodgement.

Solution

You will need to review the data you entered within the Contact Phone Number field on your ATO Settings page, under the Intermediary tab and make sure it is only numeric numbers and under the 16 characters limit. To read further information on this process, you can refer to the following article. You may need to refresh your pay event or update event data for these changes to display on your screen.
