Australian organisations can now streamline their annual gender pay equity reporting by accessing WGEA-specific fields directly within the custom report builder. This feature allows you to audit your data, identify missing classifications, and combine gender equity insights with other employee information like team or location before your final submission.

This article shows you how to use these new fields to:

Access WGEA reporting fields

Locate WGEA fields in the report builder

WGEA fields are available to Australian organisations that have the WGEA feature enabled. Access is restricted to users whose security roles already permit viewing employment history records.

  1. Log in to Employment Hero.
  2. Click the Reports icon on the left-hand side menu.
  3. Click the Custom Reports option.
  4. Create a new report or edit an existing one.
  5. Locate the WGEA Employment History section in the column selector.

Helpful Hint

If you do not see the WGEA Employment History section, confirm that your organisation is set to Australia, the WGEA feature is enabled, and your user permissions include access to employment history.

Include occupational and manager categories

Add classification categories to your report

Review how employees are classified to ensure accurate reporting for pay equity submissions.

  • ANZSCO occupational category: Displays the recorded occupational code and title (e.g., "2211 - Accountants").
  • Manager category: Displays the full manager level label (e.g., "CEO - (CEO or equivalent)" or "SM - (Senior manager)").

If an employee does not have a category recorded, the column will display a blank value, allowing you to easily spot data gaps.

Verify work locations and employee status

Check postcodes and graduate/apprentice status

Ensure employees are assigned to the correct work locations and correctly identified as graduates or apprentices.

  • Primary work location postcode: Shows the postcode assigned to the employee's primary workplace.
  • Graduate/apprentice status: Displays "Graduate" or "Apprentice" for relevant employees.

Employees who are neither a graduate nor an apprentice, or those missing a postcode, will show a blank value in these columns.

Track employment change reasons

Review reasons for role or classification changes

The Change reason field allows you to audit why an employee's record was updated during the reporting period.

  1. Add the Change reason field to your custom report.
  2. Review the recorded reason for the current employment record.

This field can be included alongside any other WGEA fields to provide context for your data audit.

Build a combined audit report

Combine multiple WGEA fields for a complete audit

Create a single view to perform a total internal audit before lodging your annual report.

  1. Select personal details like Name and Employee ID.
  2. Add multiple WGEA fields such as Occupational category and Manager category.
  3. Preview the results on your screen to check for accuracy.
  4. Click Export to download the data into a spreadsheet application for final review.
