Getting started with Leave
With the Leave function, your organisation has a centralised platform to track and manage leave requests. This lets you save time and reduce human error in leave calculations.
- Your employees can easily submit leave requests via the desktop platform or on the go via the Employment Hero Work (EH Work) mobile app.
- Their managers or supervisors can also review and approve their leave via desktop or mobile.
- The centralised leave calendar provides visibility into employee scheduling and enables better workload management.
- You can customise your own leave policies to create a tailored employee experience. The platform will automatically track leave balance calculations.
Getting more from Leave
Set your organisation up to manage leave with Employment Hero.
- To get started, you can set up your organisation’s leave policies.
- By default, the platform comes pre-loaded with all public holidays and statutory leave.
- Optionally, you can also enable the company-wide leave calendar.
- Your Employment Hero admin can then invite your employees to Employment Hero.
Once your employees log into the platform, they can click on the Time menu to start submitting leave requests. Alternatively, they can download EH Work for iOS or Android to submit leave requests via mobile.
Similarly, managers can access the Time menu or use the EH Work app to approve or decline leave requests.

Rostering: Optimise scheduling with easy, quick rostering
Getting started with Rostering
The Rostering function allows you to plan, create, and adjust shift rosters with maximum visibility of staff availability. This ensures your business is properly staffed for optimal productivity and cost efficiency.
- You can create rosters and assign it to your staff in minutes, across multiple locations.
- You can assign shifts to employees based on selected criteria such as roles, certifications etc.
- The platform will also automatically let you know if employees have been scheduled correctly based on their availability.
- The platform includes shift swapping and shift bidding for greater staffing flexibility.
- Rosters can be duplicated using roster templates, further saving time spent creating schedules.
- Rosters can be built to a budget. The platform can automatically cost shifts based on rules such as overtime, public holiday pay etc. allowing you to maintain control of costs.
- Rosters can be linked to automatic timesheet approval, reducing the need for manual review.
- Your employees will be notified of upcoming shifts with alerts and reminders via the EH Work mobile app. From there, they can accept, decline, or swap shifts on the go. They can also clock in and out via EH Work.

- You can assign shifts to employees based on selected criteria such as roles, certifications etc.
- The platform will automatically let you know if employees have been scheduled correctly based on their availability.
- You can also create a roster budget based on hours or wages.
- Optionally, you can enable automatic timesheet approval for timesheets that match the roster’s work type, location, date, start and end times, and breaks.
Once a shift has been published, employees are notified via EH Work. From there, they can accept, decline, or swap shifts. You can also enable shift bidding for even greater flexibility.

Timesheets and Time & Attendance: Accurate time tracking and payroll integration
Getting started with Timesheets and Time & Attendance
The Timesheets function also includes time & attendance for employee time tracking. Timesheets are also connected to payroll for automated, accurate pay processing.
- Employees can clock in, log breaks, and clock out using the EH Work mobile app.
- You can enable photo and geo-location tracking for every clock-in event, ensuring accurate time and attendance data.
- The platform will record these clock-in events and automatically create a timesheet for the employee.
- Timesheets can sync with payroll software to enable accurate pay.
- You can also compare rosters versus timesheets to determine the actual time worked. This removes the need for manual cross-checking to identify inconsistencies.
